Competition Clutch Flywheel/Clutch Install on Evo IX RS
The clutch swap king knows this better than anyone on here
Just kidding, broham! I have been off line for a few days, so I don't know if you got the twin CC thing sorted out.
As per the comment about the two springs balancing out harmonics, there is some truth to it. I have known some owners who have doubled up on the springs when upgrading the clutch to an aftermarket one for the same reason mentioned here on the thread... to cancel out the noise. Try this if all the driving and breaking in stuff fails.
It's a wonder nobody has come out with an aftermarket clutch spring set.

Hey I have a stock Evo IX RS, and im pretty sure the clutch and TO bearing are bad, when I drive it normal for over 20 min I can smell burning clutch and in nuetral I can hear the knock from the TO bearing would this have anything to do with why I cant rev the motor past 5,000 rpm from launch?

Well first of all your off topic. Although this thread is about a clutch but it pertains to a specific clutch and for a specific problem.
Ok well to help you out there are a few things you need to know about your car (Evo IX). The IX's came with a factory standing rev limiter (aka 2 step) of 5,000 rpms. So when you want to launch your car, you can not rev past 5,000 rpms and break stuff, but at the same time the rev limiter can help you launch the car because it acts as a 2 step launch control. All you do is push in the clutch rev to 5k rpms and hold a WOT position and maneuver the clutch to preload and moderately fast release to launch.
As far as your clutch, I would guess its time to change it. Have you noticed if the clutch is slipping when spirited driving? (during hard acceleration the rpms rise faster than mph)

as for the problem, it might be the spring, def do the pedal adjustment man
and for the other guy with his stuff burning, take it back apart and do the right torque settings, and shave off 1mm off your pressure plate to make it level throughout
lmao no i still gota find my problem, im dropping the tranny 2nite =]

A honing stone works well with shaving the feet of the pressure plate. That and a lot of WD-40 and patience.
