The only reason I ask is because I find looking at failures really interesting. And also for someone like me, who is interested in learning about engine building, seeing what a piston looks like which undergone what that Evo had, is something interesting. I have no beef with anybody just pure curiousity.

Also as I mentioned above, why is it the stock motor/head in the car now required 13% less fuel but made more power with less boost. I'm sure that I am just confused but you got me curious about that one.

Also from your testing, are you inclined to think a .82 HTA 35R outspools a 6262?

Built motor or not, over 600whp on pump gas out of a 2.0 liter motor is a rediculous amount of stress.

People see the cars, like yours for example, from Buschur which are running insanely well on pump and although it is not stated directly, it is constantly inferred to the forum (which is made up of more laymen's than experts) that these setups have stock like reliability, which simply isn't possible.

My posts have no disrespect for DB, but are more like a reality check on what is and isn't possible. I'm would guess that you will refresh (aka rebuild) your motor within 10,000 miles of its assembly from when you started making those amazing numbers on pump. Am I wrong?

P.S. - Sounds like my original guess was correct (concerning the badbish), the underside of the piston cracked. Not trying to be a downer, just a realist. No reason to get upset, we probably share more in common than not, like a love for racing and owning very fun evos.

hey ya'll, what were the symptoms that led you to believe that you had a cracked piston? or that the wrist pin was seperating from the piston? just wondering. I'm glad ya'll have it back up and running though!!!

Yes, is this something you can discover before a catastophic failure?

The variation in fuling is on one fuel map. Since the AEM also uses boost comp and air temp adjustments to arrive at the total injector on time its sometimes hard to measure the total fuel with just the main fuel target.

Also, the last time the car had VP Import now it has a non oxegynated fuel C 16 which no doubt means that it would need less fuel for optimal power.

I have yet to test a HTA 86 vs a 62/62 which IMHO would make for a great A - B test.

Thanks for the reply Al. I guess the point is the original 35R dyno plot is a bit old and the 6262 plot is new so to try to compare them very closely is a bit hard to do. Anyway I like all the data you are putting out there so thanks.
