my 5th gear scratches i like to call it at any RPM you really have to baby it for it to not do it...and at high RPM's shifting into 5th is a real challenge you either hit it or you dont (and thats shifting slow)

my banana EVO8 (5spd) has 52000 miles on it. No grinding issues. No tranny issues.

I suggest some new tranny fluid, if not adjust your clutch. These are the easiest and most logical to do first.
