Transmission Issues...Again....

How many times can one person have problems with the transmission? I just got my car back on Friday after getting my new clutch put in (smoked the factory @ 6300 miles). I'm half-way through the 500 mile break-in period and I go over to a friends house (literally less than 500 feet away) when I get there, my shifter no longer recognizes 1st or 2nd gear. All I have is 3rd, 4th, 5th and reverse. So not living far away... I reverse my car back home... If anyone has any idea what could cause this or what is going on, any help would be appreciated.

Greg

Sorry to hear that I have no idea what would cause that but I see your from blacksburg if your in town the 11th of october you should come to the virginia motorsports park for Xtreme Nationals if your available to do so and your car is running good by then good luck. Here is the link to the original thread for the Xtreme Nationals. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...threadid=39331

I don't know if they need to bleed the clutch to put a new clutch in, but after I put in my stainless steel clutch line, I had some air in the line and I couldn't put my shifter into gear, so we bled the line out some more, and it fixed it.

do you mean you can still go into 1st and second but only at realllly low speeds? this has been happening to me lately and i have no idea what is causing it. it gets a little better if i heat my car up for about 10 minutes just idling and going slow. its being weird though. so usually it lets me go into first at 5mph but now i have to come to a cpmplete stop and i have to go about 10-15 to switch into 2nd from 3rd. wanna help me also?

No, I couldn't put it in gear at all. You probably have a totally different problem, sorry.

Check the cable line from shifter to tranny. I believe there are two or three cables. Make sure they are connected and not loose.

Yeah sounds like the linkage for sure, though I don't know the layout on the evo yet, I would start at the tranny end and work back. Better yet call the damn dealer that did the work and have them come get the car and fix the **** hey broke or didn't put back together correctly.
