In all honesty, I'd imagine the new EvoRed compared to the old style would have the same effect as switching say from an Evo8 to an Evo9 turbo. You're getting a bigger compressor while keeping the same wheels which should net you some extra power, though I wouldn't expect a huge difference. I wouldn't mind purchasing the new housing, if not only to get rid of the 4th/5th gear surging, but if I can I will post a back to back test.

But the 9 turbo does offer measurably more power then either version of the 8 turbo.

That's just my theory, there's no data backing it yet lol.

Just from what I have seen at my local garage it would seem that if there is a gain of power it would be minimal and the surge was the main reason for the "new" red.

Indeed! My Tuner thinks it will pick some power up (on the back end for sure) but again as quoted no data to support the fact. Interesting enough, one of our members stated that he does surge a Little with the new Red! hmm, 200 bones for the housing and I would expect it to resolve any and all surging!!! wouldn't you all?

I took my car out today and the new housing cleared up all the surge. I had to turn my boost settings up (73-77) to reach 30psi. It sounds different and feels smoother. It does not feel like it picked up any power almost feels like it had a little less punch but it could be due to smoother transition. Much more comfortable to drive.

Man....a couple weeks seem so long to wait for the actual raw numbers in comparison.

Finally got my 80mm housing w/surge port and High flow Oil line kit...

I couldnt be more pleased with the improvement of this turbo, its like a different turbo! I have to be honest tho, it has been modified (Juiced, lol) ported/ polished and the wheel has been detailed as well.
Absolutley NO compressure surge! and spool up is quick!

if you want to save your FP Red get this housing, it's a must!
