Couple Questions...

1. How hard is it to remove the engine, transmission, transfercase and can it be done in a fairly well equipped garage?

2. Are there any special tools or knowledge needed for that and a clutch/flywheel removal/install?

3. Where can I get a Full detailed service manual, with all the info you need, inside and out for a 2003 EVO VIII GSR? One with all torque specs, inside and out, stuff like that.

I need to have my transmission and possibly my transfercase rebuilt, but I really want to learn to rebuild my transmission myself, so Im going to just replace it and the transfercase with new ones, and the clutch and flywheel with better stuff. I really want to learn all this and hands on is the way to go for me! I really need a good service manual, and a few pointers and Ill be good to go! Im getting ready to start school at a tech school for some automive classes to further my automotive knowledge.

In a well equipped garage, a couple of jacks, a medium and small pry bar, slide hammer, and a breaker bar; it can be done.
The pressure palte comes off easy enough, but the flywheel will require an impact wrench, a flywheel wrench, or a bent piece of metal that braces it to the block.
Someone on here recently posted a link to free sections of the manual, but now I can't find it.
and this helps too...

Check alldata for torque specs but for the most part the evomoto write up is pretty good. You will definatly want help from a buddy when taking off and putting on the trans.
