evo 1 injectors/fuel rail wont go all the way on

So I had my injectors and fuel rail off for a while doing some ****, and now i cant seem to get the fuel rail back on. the injectors dont seem to push in any further yet the mounting pieces on the fuel rail are still about 1/2 inch from the head. Just wondering if anybody knows what the hell im doing wrong? im probably doing something retarded thats screwing me up...

Make sure the injector tops are pushed all the way into the fuel rail. Lube the o-rings or you'll tear them. Then make sure the tips are going all the way into the manifold. Other than that, that's pretty much it. Good luck.

An Evo 1 fuel rail will not bolt up to an Evo 8 or 9.

Do you have the plastic spacers (white circles)?

I don't recall having any plastic spacers..?

heres how much of a gap there is, I cant seem to push the injectors in anymore to close the gap between the mounting areas

Hmmm...
I heard that Evo I-III motors are the same as 2g DSM motors, but obviously that is not true.
Are they the stock injectors? If so, give them a little twist as you press them down into the manifold. Make sure the bottom seals are not kinked.
If they are pressed in as far as you can get them and the seals and o rings are OK, start tightening down the bolts. Go a little bit on each bolt to draw it down evenly.
It should go back together.

there are plastic spacers(black) that should be in there. When they fall off they often don't make it to the ground, they get caught up in the manifold or wiring etc. look around. if you can't find them they are the same as almost any Mitsubishi from the late 80's or early 90's on up; so galants or dsm's and even Hyundai's or whatever should have them. I have a ton of them that I pick up at the local junkyard because I always drop at least one when I have the rail off. They are kind of pricey from the dealership but junkyards will often just let you have them.

PS. when reinstalling them put a little dab of silicone(gasket stuff or lithium grease) to hold them in place until you get the rail reinstalled.
Hope this helps.
