Very bad problem?

Ok so my car drove fine this morning, parked at a car wash and turned it off. When i turned the car back on, I tried putting it in first, and the damn thing just wouldnt have it, but it finally did slip in, (the car is off) while the knob is in first gear position, i can push it over to 3rd gear position without pulling it back out of 1st, it just slides over, wtfffff is going on? i looked under the hood, there was no clip on top of the shift cable, i went into a gas station and got some paper clips, just to try my luck, that didnt really help....
what could this be???!!

if u can move to 3rd gear without going back it could be that shifter cable bad or your gear selector most likely the cable though which shouldnt be too bad

I don't know anymore details!! I parked, and turned it off, when i turned it back on 1st gear slides to third, called my shop and told them about the shifter cable clip missing, he suggested the paperclip method to see if i could make it to the shop, put two paperclips in the shifter cable where it hooks up to the tranny,, no success, all the other gears go in just fine, its just 1st and 2nd that are bunk, I just looked on the garage floor, and there is a big puddle of oil....uh oh, i have a leak....but even if i had a leak, i didnt even drive it half a mile just now, and it was full last night...

found the problem, there is a small white clip under the shift cables, that piece must have broken off when the tranny was reinstalled...$6 part from dealership
