Used Mobil 1 EP 5W-30 for a few years then made the switch to Amsoil. Been using it since and the car runs great. Plus all my 'gear head' friends swear by Amsoil, but to each is his own I guess.

Your right, they're smart! They are paid billions for the "Mobile 1" on the cap. I would not use M1 on an evo over 400HP PERIOD. RP 10W 40 been used for the past 40,000 miles of 0-30 psi boost

These discussions tend to turn silly quicker than anything else.

In independent, weighted testing, the various Mobil 1 viscosities score very well - better in many cases than some notable 'boutique' brands mentioned here.

In the same testing, Amsoil as a brand scores very well, and on average, scores as well or better than any other brand.

Some of these tests include things like cold pour point, which isn't so important to me, but it should to someone who lives in in area where winter temps get really cold. What should be best for me on paper, wouldn't necessarily be best for them.

Application isn't considered in these tests, so the most important thing is to use the correct viscosity for the engine and the application. A good choice for a lightly driven, dedicated 9k rpm drag race engine probably won't be a good choice for a 400whp daily driver where long term wear and fuel economy are concerned.

read this before you bash royal purple and proclaim the greatness of mobil 1. it's an older test, but i'm not aware of any significant changes is the make-up of each oil in the test.

amsoil always has some BS chart to show you how great their oil is. Some of them make sense, some dont.

I have been running RP ever since I got thru the break in period. Working great for me.

The way I calculate the cost of your oil for 25k mi. is 25000/2500 = 10 x 44.5 = $445/25k mi. The price falls right in the middle.

Ok so lets clarify some stuff in here, on any vehicle that has exceeded the stock performance levels we do not reccomend to run neither our SSO 0W30 to 35k, or either our ATM 10w30 @ 25k, of course you will drain sooner,
how soon it depends on how you beat on your car,,,, i challenge any one to run the ATM or the SSO to our reccomended drain interval for severe driving conditions and then go and do an oil analysis and to come back and tell me that th oil is junk.

i tell you that i am a consumer as same as all of you guys and i would not put nothing in my 40k+ moded evo that would not perform 200%, i am not just a cosumer but iam a very picky one, i wont even tell you how often i drain my fluids, it is way sooner than anyone could imagine.

now lets get to your answer, for example on your wifes Toyota Camry daily driver it is completly safe to run the AMSOIL SSO to 35K, we garuantee it, there is many oil analysis out there that shows the SSO oil's going that high,,,, guys we have to remember technology has come long ways this is not the 80's anymore.

And yes the chart only applies for cars that are changing the oil's at the AMSOIL's reccomended drain interval, wich in the case of the chart is 25,000k,

But what the chart also shows is that you can still run AMSOIL longer than any of the other oil's shown in the chart,,, BOTTOM LINE MEANING YOU WILL SAVE MONEY IN THE LONG RUN AND YOU WILL PUNISH YOU ENGINE INTERNALS LESS.

Do you really think AMSOIL would advertise their oil at that high milleage and then also tell you how much money you can save compared to all the other companies,,, also if you have noticed isn't it bizare that AMSOIL is the one with the most GRAPHS and charts out in the Oil markets,,, that should raise a flag,,, i tell you that if all of this was blowing smoke nd mirrows,,, AMSOIL would have gotten a law suite so big it wouldn't be funny.

i hope this clarifies any questions, or concerns.

+1 ^^^^^

I agree with Apagan01's post. I too am very picky and I could agree more... AMSOIL FTW! However that is our choice of oil and I recommend it to anyone!

Here's a review about AMSOIL that under went the "Sequence IIIF Test"

The Sequence IIIF procedure measures oil thickening and piston deposits under high-temperature conditions and provides information about valve train wear. The test simulates high-speed service under relatively high ambient conditions.
