Is Royal Purple worth the $$$
Anyone is welcome to see how long they can go between oil changes, but I won't be joining that experiment. Good luck.

it's actualy 17,000 for severe
and by the way the test has been done hundreds of times by many AMSOIL gear heads around the country, using our oil analysis lab
Mobil makes a great product as well
It isn't so much about the oil itself, but about the submicron particulate, moisture accumulation, oil fouling with alcohol, and other non-filterable impurities that I prefer to purge from the system every 3k miles.
Amsoil is a fine product, but I'll stick to my 3k change interval.

On topic... Royal Purple is good oil, just way too much detergent in it. After 2k miles it's so dirty it needs to be changed.

oh believe me iam as picky as you or if not more, myself personally i change my oil at 1700- 2500 k intervals,, i know way overkilled but thats just me,
Ted i think the message is being miss read.
what they are trying to say is that the oil has been designed to run for that period of time, the oil is capable of running 17k without issues,,, however because of the old mentality still being implemented customers still insist in running their oils at the 80' fashion.
high quality oil's like AMSOIL, Mobil or some good synthetics are designed with detergents and additived to where they can resists all the conditions very well,, NOAK testing provides some good data, oils these days hold up to humidity, heat, shear and all the junk that enviroments throw at them, however a very good oil filter is needed to ensure propper filtration.
Only problems I see with this is a turbo charged engine shouldn't go further than 3000 miles. Second, if 3,000 is the max, then this chart should be alter to show such. However, Amsoil is great oil, if I'm able to get it easily I'll use it over Mobil 1... but no dealers near by and can't wait for shipping most of the time.

i will dig thrue my pc and try and find some data of some starion'' that ran AMSOIL back in the day at 15k drain intervals with no issues,,,
however you are right, the chart is for normal DD, because 85% of our customers are non turbocharged.

you are saying that a turbo car shold not go over 3k, please provide data that shows that an oil that was ran at 10k for example was not performing any more.

I'm not saying it wouldn't last... but I wouldn't take it past 3500. Now sure I'd change the oil, and put the old Amsoil with 3000 miles into my girlfriends explorer and let her go 10,000 miles with it... but for peice of mine, I dont take any oil (no matter how the tests look) over 3k in my evo.

it just doesnt fell right surpasing 3k on any oil no matter what that manufaturer says,,, however i would hope that we trust the data provided by that manufaturer,, even more if thay are saying that they will garuantee the oil and you system.

.....I use Mobile from day one....i don't know why that my oil cap say's USE MOBILE ONE ONLY hmmmm weird.
those figures mean squat,we are talking chump change. money really is no issue when everyone is within $200 per 25,000 miles. Shoot even if mine was $400 more every 25,000 it wouldn't change a thing. we are not talking thousands of $$$ here.
best advise to everyone, use 1 type of oil for 3 oil changes, have it blackstone lab tested every oil change. www.blackstone-labs.com/
then change to another type and do the same test. then repeat back to the original and test again. Evaluate the difference and make a very EDUCATED decision which is the best.
