Whining noise when AC is on?!?!

So, i noticed this today... whine noise when ac on then goes off when Ac deactivated.. Anyone experience this, and what is causing it?

Maybe a loose ground. Do you have an aftermarket stereo? I still have some issues from the previous owners install.

How many miles on the car? If it's up in the 50k's then it's most likely the pulleys and belt just needs to be changed.

its about 47XXX.. why would it be a pulley? if anything i think belt, but what do i know.. hmm, belts look ok, ill try the conditioner..

The belt has a recommended service life of 30K. I tried to go 60k but it was looking pretty sorry at 58K and I replaced it. So, try a new belt.

i see this a lot, try to turn the AC on, and when it squeaks spray some belt dressing on it and it should go away

pulley has a bearing in it no? then it wears with time and needs to be replaced. spraying it will only mask the problem

i dont know if its the same as conditioner but its just some stuff you spray on your belts to lube them up. get them a little sticky
