Eh, mini batteries suck for DD...

I have gone through 3....They are all the same Odysey PC680's, and if it is a different model, they have the same CCR..The only exception is the Braile, and its wider than the odysey...plus more expensive.

I ran wire back to the trunk for the winter months, and I run a civic battery from November-March or so...

My friends and I have had bad luck with the Odessey's so we gave up on them. Once we switched to Braille's, not a problem since.

OK, for the guys that have had the battery die on them. Were you able to recharge the battery or did you have to get a new one? I've heard from people once the battery loses all it's "juice", you can't recharge.

It's best to trickle charge it with 1 amp.

Oh, and for what it's worth. It's been 95 here in VA, but my Odyssey pc680 just started after the dome light was on for 3 days. It was barely sluggish when cranking. Just enough for me to look for something left on.

2 Vermont Winters later, my battery is still going strong!

But - I don't have anything other than the factory stereo (in the MR) and I don't run any electrical things without the car running. That being said, it starts every time!

P.S. Look up the "DIY mini battery on the cheap" (or something along those lines) article here on EvoM. Its great, and will save you some serious coin. Also, instead of ordering the battery suggested in the article, I ordered the next size up for cold cranking amperage reasons alone (still freaking tiny).

^^^ trust me, you won't be dissapointed!

so now its either get a mini battery and use this DIY (which looks pretty legit but still eh http://www.turboevo8.com/minibattery/ ) or just relocate the battery. ive been thinking about the same question for a while and idk now the mine battery seems easier with this DIY. it just seemed crazy to pay so much for those mini battery kits before...but idk anyone else got any thoughts?

Well, between the longer cable for ground and power( or just the power) and the cut off switch as seen here http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TAY-1036/ it will cost about the same as an odyssey and you still have that heavy @ss battery.
I,nor none of my friends have had a problem with the odyssey so I will leave it at that.

i think a miata/civic battery in the trunk would be a nice solution. The weight of the extra cable would be offset by the smaller battery. You'd also be using a battery that is cheaper and easily available, should your battery die unexpectedly.

It's definitely much more work than installing a mini-battery kit and you will need really solid ties downs and possibly the cut-off switch in order to be legal for track days, auto-x, ect...

Mini batteries suck... been there and done that. AMS and Odyssey both died less than a year. Not worth the headache.
