anyone still using syncromesh fluid or ?
ive been reading posts all day about different tranny fluids. I was curious if anyone was still using the pennzoil/ gm syncroshift. If so what is the cange interval ,and the wear (hows it hold up). Most of the posts were dated. should it be used if the car is run hard on occasion?
I was going to run redline lightweight shockproof, but on the redline site it states(not recommended for most syncro-type transmissions) even though AMS recomends it. BG sycro is sold buschur racing. No wonder im confuse even 2 of the evo giants differ.
I just want something that works and i can take my evo8 to the 1/4 mile with.

Well, no matter what opinion you state, 50 people are going to disagree.
I think the BG product is better than the GM product. I lost a transmission running the GM product. But, I suggest they are both passé, made for transmissions with weak syncros and Mitsu used to make nothing but.
If you value shifting over transmission life they may still be what you are looking for.

Quit using it back when the price went up. The stuff worked well when I could afford to swap it out at every oil change. Now, it costs as much (more locally) as the Amsoil I'm using, and the change intervals are L O N G with the Amsoil. However, the stuff IS notchy when temps drop below 50's on down.
Redline cocktail for me (2 MT-90 and 1 MTL mixed). Still shifts smooth even when below 0F during MN winters. Synchroshift/mesh does not have good sheer stability and doesn't provide the protection our transmissions need for long term durability.

I have been using the GM synchromesh for close to 3 years now and has shifted great the whole time, I change it every other oil change(so its in for 6k miles). never ran it longer cause everyone says it doesnt last long. But recently i have been looking into the amsoil cause its getting great reviews and its the proper weight and rating and offers better protection..
what about the OEM trans fluid, has anyone even consider that? My friend works at the mitsu dealership and i guess they get their trans fluid on big containers, and he told me next time you change ur trans fluid let me know and ill fill you up a container with the proper amount..
the reason we do it this way because the user of the oil knows how hard they drive their car, therfore the drain intervals become sooner as you drive the car harder, with that being said some people might change their fluids every 1k or every 15k, because everyone drives their cars totally different.
