AC Compressor Question

Hi Guys,

I took my car to get my AC diagnosed and apparently my AC compressor crapped out.

It is quite simple to change out the compressor but the dealer is recommending to flush out the whole system just in case there are metal shavings in the system. I talked to some local AC shops and they said that I have to take the evaporator and condenser (dryer) pulled out since they cannot be flushed with the system. The dealer said that they can.

I want to make sure it gets done right. Anyone has experience on this? Thanks.

It all depends on what happened to your compressor. If the clutch just took a ****, then there really isn't any need to flush the system. Pretty much, to flush the system, you just need some kind of compatible detergent and compressed air, so in theory you wouldn't really need to pull out those components. Like I said though, it all depends on what happened to your compressor.

It's the actual compressor. The clutch was clicking a lot trying to engage the compressor but the compressor is shot.

I'll check for metal shavings when I replace it.
