Spec super twin disc install
I have 11k miles on my evo and the clutch has brand new fluid, was power bled and has a SS braided clutch line. I have a notchy, lock u out of gears clutch that is now slipping. Spec SS trim supertwin and have about 1k miles on it and nothing good to say about it execpt fedal feel is great and noise is minimal. I also shimmed the TOB with washers to move it slightly closer to the PP which helped, but not much.
E85, I will be happy to examine the parts for you to determine what issue you are having. I noticed in your thread that you mentioned wanting to buy another unit and send them one back for credit. I would rather examine these parts before sending anything else your way. This will insure that if there is an issue with the parts that it isn't an issue again. You will need an RMA# for this and I ask that you call me with information on the purchase (when and where the parts were bought) to proceed with establishing an RMA. I just purchased a Spec Super Twin. Im looking forward to inspecting the package when it arrives. I bought the clutch on Ted B's recommendations. I also purchased a TRE 2.5 built trans. I hope that the clutch arrives with all the bolts and proper machining. We shall see.. I spoke to SPEC - 01 on the phone prior to making the purchase. We had... an interesting talk. Im sure that if there are any problems with the clutch.. they will handle it.

i am still working on installing this. Got the trans back up and managed to find the discs unaligned...sigh.. and i scratched up the pretty blue pressure plate. Attempting to muscle in the trans tonight.
MAKE SURE YOU DON'T LET THE TRANNY HANG FOR A MILLISECOND ON THE DISCS or they are fried! I still maintain that 90% of people's clutch problems that everyone seems to be having with EVERY brand regardless of single or twin, is due to warping the discs upon install. Stabbing the Evo tranny without dropping the subframe is an act of god at the least for a novice... much less doing it smoothly without either having to "wiggle" it on, or god forbid people using the bolts to pull the tranny the rest of the way on.

another complaint, the clutch is now starting to make very loud grinding noises on downshift. Ive only had this clutch in for less then 5k miles with 0 launches. Ive been babying this clutch in hopes the drive ability would get better as others have said it will but I dont believe it will. Spec is stepping in and asking us to send in clutches, but what about the people who dont have a garage and cant swap out clutches when ever they choose to. A clutch swap is easily $600 bucks for a shop to do it. Also, what about people who daily drive there car, how are we supposed to remove the clutch, send it back, wait, wait, wait, then re install. Plus have to pay for any storage fees the shop charges for the car being on their lot. Seriously, this is not the only time I've had problems, with SPEC clutches. And please don't say install error. My mechanic, which I help installed this clutch have installed many clutches in many evo's. The spec clutch is by far the worst.
I also, believe after the install of the clutch it has caused my tranny many issues. I now have horrible shifting. Way notchier then a 89 civic. And when in gear, the shifter moves freely left and right as if it were in neutral. Also, the synchros must be shot from this clutch. As it grind putting it in first or reverse. And all they can say is I need a new master cylinder. Why would you design a clutch for a car and you need a new master cylinder. My master cylinder was fine for my stock clutch and it was fine for my carbonetics. Evo's with double the amount of abuse and mileage and thier master cylinders are fine with exedy. So what the hell is it.

It happened right after break in. I was in 1st and around 5k rpm and i shifted into 2nd and it grinded and popped out. Then after that the notchy shifting, and play in the shifter while in gear happened. All of my problems happened after clutch install. I babied this clutch and I still do. A 1500 dollar clutch should not have these problems or cause these problems, its that simple.
Right, but being able to physically move the shifter lever abnormally while in gear is a problem that appears to be independent the clutch. In other words, you may be blaming the clutch for other issues.

Also, what would SPEC be doing about the damage caused to my transmission. I am confident that this clutch has caused pre mature ware and permanent damage to my transmission.
