Let's look at it this way...
Why are you installing stronger head studs? The most likely reason is that you have reason to believe that you will be running a higher boost than the stock ones can handle. Are the headstuds the only weak spot in the head?

My suggestion has always been to replace the headgasket and check all of your other seals, gaskets, etc. to future proof your install. Maintenance should always been in the forefront of your mind before modifications.

If Done correctly the 1 x 1 method could end up fine. But that being said my personal preference would be to remove the head and replace the head gasket at the same time. I've never been a fan of the one by one method, but it has worked for some......

This thead is whether or not the OP should get head studs or not. This POLL created back in August is about people who have installed head studs and which ways they have installed them. Also for people to report problems they have had with the ARP studs after install and gather information so people can make informed decisions about which way to install them (it's preference really) and what problems have risen from either method. Thanks for your input though..

Yes it was for whether or not people should install them. I wanted to add it to your poll though cause it has some info on whether or not people were experiencing issue after the install. Read into it and you will see. Lets keep this going though and see who else has or has not had issues. Just wanted to share some info!

If you aren't competent to install head studs 1x1 and not mess up your car definately do not attempt to swap the head. That is a much harder job and chances of screwing it up are much higher. Pay someone who can do it to do it right the first time.

ive been a member on here for a while now and i have to say, the search feature on this site sucks. and whats worse, most of the old write-ups are so old they are missing pictures, some are even dead ends.

im frankly getting tired of people acting so smug, "do a search next time" consider this, as these cars get older, owners are going to gain more experience, new techniques. sure we might be asking the same questions, but the responses are so much more detailed now than they have been in the past.

dont buy aftermarket headgaskets, OEM ones are the thickest.
OEM is not the thickest headgasket.

Would a thicker head gasket decrease your engine compression in turn reducing your hp?
Is OEM a better choice then?
Pros pls advice.
