Execy twin Hd ?'s

I'm looking at getting a new clutch in the next few weeks before i do e85 and i have been told that exedy twin hds are very nice but i want something that will hold for a good amount of miles (i've been told exedy twin can last 50,000 being launched frequently) but i would like some other input.

thanks

You should also consider the Spec Twin it seems to be a real nice inbetween option between the exedy twin hd and the Tilton/QM type clutches plus it's a push type which is a really nice bonus there should be a thread or too on it here you should defenetly check it out.

I drove an evo with an Exedy HD and i was very impressed. I'm not sure of the exact HP of the car but, it was on a green and has run an 11.2 in the quarter. I've heard of guys getting between 30K-40K miles. That helped me in my decision to go with an Exedy Twin. Ive got the SD though.I'm on the stock turbo+E85. It holds great. When it eventually wears out, I'll go with an OS Giken. I did speak to one of our tranny builders who looked at the Spec and didn't care for it. He advised to go with the Exedy over the Spec.

I hope you have a strong left leg if you plan on putting in the HD. The pressure plate is strong. You will feel it every time you press in the clutch.

As for holding power.....the clutch is awesome.

It will rattle a lot on decel and at idle. Just know this is normal.

Oh and the clutch will last a long time.

The exedy twin is not heavy at all. If you are a 100 pound girl it maybe heavy to you. It will probably be as close as a stock setup as you can get. I have the exedy twin and I also had a 6 puck spring ACT. Twin clutches have more surface area so it would feel more closer to stock than say a single disc clutch which require a heavy duty pressure plate. Please do not make comments unless you have had both designs and want to help out the original poster. If you get an ACT clutch with I think the 2600 pressure plate(I think that is what we evos use), that is a heavy setup...

There is a reason why people say get an exedy if you can afford it. As far as the rattling noise, I heard more rattling with my ACT. I was concerned when I read all these rattling issues, but it not bad at all. It does rattle, but you can only hear it with the factory radio off. I usually run my radio at 15-23 volume. Also mine does not rattle. It only rattles when you press the clutch in. I have a megan tbe and I have great hearing according to the hearing test required at my work.

Now that I am on my 4th clutch....I believe I am fully qualified to talk about clutches. I've had 2 stock clutches, a Clutch Masters stage 3 kevlar, and finally an Exedy twin cerametallic HD.

I am by far most impressed with the HD. Yeah, it is a little harder pedal and makes some noise but, to me, it adds to the rawness of the evo. Compares to a stock clutch the HD has a MUCH harder pedal feel.

Carbon clutches hold like crazy.....but don't last all that long. I've seen two others with carbon clutches that wore out in no time. Then again....they raced quite often too.
