no thanks. i checked into that kit. it looks too slapped together for my tastes. he got the ideas, and tips to make that knockoff kit from Spark Tech. It looks like something i made myself. not saying it doesn't work, but i'll stick with what's proven.

i also find it funny that nobody recommending that kit is actually running it lol

It always amazes me that people will buy a half-assed, blatant ripoff of a product to save a few bucks, instead of buying the original which is running on some of the fastest Evos in the country and sold by a vendor which actively supports its customers.

the "half-assed" part was what turned me off. the quality of the workmanship, and the materials looked like the parts were pulled out of a scrap bin. you've got an ingition systems company building one product, and some guy in his living room building the other.

gee, what should i buy? lol

Thank you for your concerns, I will be sure to forward them along to those up the chain.

I feel there are a few things to address here. I am trying to help out those consumers who cannot afford or do not want a top of the line product. One that Sparktech does and excellent job on. They really do make a nice product. My target is for those that need an upgrade but really do not have the cash or just want something that works to spend the money elsewhere. I do not even feel there is any competition between us, my target audience is more in the price of Okada and the voltage filtering boosters such as Sun or HKS.

As far as copying goes, how far do we go? Tym Switzer made the first CDI kit under Buschur Racing.....think about it. How many are making a copy-cat of that?

A few years back I was making and selling Miata kits using these EXACT coils on eBay using the EXACT same methods we use on EVO's. The Denso/Toyota coil retrofit is not a new concept. I've also made Non-CDI DSM COP kits back when they were beginning to just take off.

I use different coils (they are in the same family with the same performance), I believe we may even wire certain parts of the harness a bit different. I have never seen one of his kits aside from images so I cannot be sure.

In closing, I am working with a few people to provide some good results (possibly record breaking). I'll keep you posted on that. If anyone from VA with one of my 15-20 test kits wants to chime in please do. They all know I'm a stand-up guy who is always willing to help with any issue they may have. I am working on getting my mill retrofitted to CNC and secure a good supplier of a slightly different coil in the same coil family. The looks may improve, but I spare NO expense on functionality/reliability/performance which is already top notch.

Lol lets not act like sparktech was the first to make ignition stuff for evo's.

Just cause its cheaper doesn't mean its half assed or will work half as good.

Not everyone has gobs of money to throw around for the best of the best. Especially with the way the economy is. More probs to a company making something that us semi poor people can afford that works just as good.

poor people driving $30k+ cars lol

give me a break. the guy's work is okay, but compared to the other products it does look half assed. at least look at the products before commenting. i have no problem with the ones that he's making. if you want to buy the parts, more power to you. personally, i don't like the way his setup looks. it looks cheap, and it won't fit under the stock spark plug cover...or any plug cover for that matter. it just looks slapped together, and it's not THAT much cheaper. i'll go back to my earlier point: people like you are coming out of the woodwork to defend and recommend a product you not only know nothing about, but also have never seen, and you're not running it yourself and probably don't know anyone who is. so why are you even posting?
