yeah, i'm kind of looking for more technical answers than that. i'm sure the spark techs are better because a COP system is going to be better than the two coil/two wire thing, but HOW much better? will you notice that much of a difference? is it worth it on a car that's basically stock? are the Okada's a good upgrade over stock? these are the things i'm wanting to know.

If the car is "basically stock" then why not just leave the coil setup alone and spend money elsewhere?

because it's time to replace the coils. my car's got 133k now. i replaced the wires at 120k along with the plugs again, but i didn't do anything with the coils. i'm going to replace the coils, but i haven't decided if i'm just going to replace those two or go to a full COP. i'd like to know some of the advantages/disadvantages of each.

i'd say go for the spark tech non-cdi unit. they are proven to work even as high as 700hp and at the same time cheaper that the cop unit that they have.

There was a huge thread regarding the Okada coils, if I remember right it was concluded that there was actually no improvement with running those coils..
I'd run spark tech as well, it's what I run!

Do a search for that thread to see the technical points posted.

okay i found that thread, and so far i've seen nothing but good things about the Okada coils. the question i have is the Spark Tech system worth the extra $200? also, i've seen claims of hp gains with the Okada coils, but never saw hp gains come up in any discussions of the Spark Tech system. do either give gains, and will one give more gains than the other?

There is another option on the market <> which supposedly uses a Denso coil...I believe TTP / Scott will be testing these in the very near future....

i'm not really interested in anything new. i'd like to stick to either Spark Tech or the Okada's as they've already been tested many times with good results. i plan to order very soon, possibly today, so i'm not interested in untested parts. thanks for the info though.

anyone with input on this?

Its the same parts, only better connectors and cleaner look.

If you would like to spend another few hundred in someone elses profit margin though, that is your right.

i just replaced the stock wires. they were looking old and worn, and they aren't that expensive, so while i was doing the plugs i just did those too.

so you're saying that those <Sparktech knockoff> coils are better than spark tech's system? as for the look, spark tech's system looks a lot cleaner. the spoolinup kit looks kinda slapped together. has anyone tested these against the spark tech's yet?
