Safe max rev limit on stock bottom end

Hello all

I have an Evo 6.5 with HKS 272 Cams (with springs and retainers to suit)

I wanted to enquire on the maximum rpm limit with the stock pistons and rods.

Would 8000rpm be ok? (I an currently using a GT3076R 0.82a/r turbo)

I have searched though could not find anything substantial...

Thank You

How long do you want the motor to last?

8k is pushing the outter limits of your stock rod bolts ability to hold the rotating assembly together. I have seen the stock bottom ends hold that for extended periods of time and I have also seen them come apart after just a few times in that RPM range so,it all depends on you. Also, how many miles are on the engine in question? The more miles the less likely it will like those rpm's.

As I posted eariler, some take it no problem and others go BOOM the first week you try it. Let some of the members who went boom chime in and you will see that there are just as many that break as last.

on your evo 6 stock block i would say no dont do it. the evo 8 blocks i belive are more stronger. unlike the 7-5 evos. and im sure you know the weak crank in the evo4.

I just swaped out my evo 4 motor for a 8.

ooh by the way most people on here are from the us and dont know tomuchabout the older evos

A friend of mine was going mid 11's on a 6.5 tme for a year and revving 8,700 for over a year and had no problems with rod bolts, The thing that took that motor out was a topspeed race aginst a lexus isf at 190mph (6 speed swap)
Piston cracked a ring land.
