what is this?

i believe this is whats wrong with my car, but i dont know what to call it. or where to get one???

looks like a crank or cam sensor. not sure though. where was it located? are you having trouble starting your car or is it dying on you?

looking from the front, its on the left side. intake manifold side. above the alternator below the fuel rail.

with this sensor plugged in the car makes a horrible rattle noise and pulls all thew timing.....

it came from the intake side of the motor above the alternator below the fuel rail.

is it dirty? well oil flows through it, and the inside is spring loaded. one bolt holds it in.

two wire easy release clip to plug it in.

sticks inside the cylinder head about two inches... please help!!!!!!!!!!

finally after a week of searching, auto part stores, books, internet, part numbers.
chad hit me back with a pm.

the part is called Mivec oil control solenoid/valve!
