Wilson V2 + Throttle Body
Wilson V2 + Throttle Body
Hey ppl ,
Just wanting to get some feedback on what you think of my new setup . Ive currently bought a Wilson V2 Inlet Manifold and want to match it up with a throttle body . I was thinking that the 70mm RPW Throttle Body looks the goods and may be the way to go .
I have a built engine with all supporting mods, raceported head, GSC S2 Cams and a 35R combo. I thought that these 2 pieces of equipment would definately help increase flow. Im pretty sure theres a major restriction in 1 of them as the rest of the engine is flowing very very well .
Whats your thoughts and opinions of gains and difference i may feel when both are installed and tuned ?? Lag, power, etc ??
Any info and advice is muchly appreciated !!
Cheers
Chris

The V2 was designed around a modified 65mm OEM throttle body which is only around 63.5mm. We have run the "65mm modified OEM TB" combo on 9sec9's car with many different turbo set up's. This intake and TB combo have never been a restriction at the power levels we run. He has run this intake on everything from a FP White to a couple of 35 variants all with great results.
What serial number is on the intake? I can identify the version you have by that number and give you a better idea of what you have.
You can email 9sec9 directly at 9sec9@9sec9.com, he can answer any questions you might have. Thanks, Indy

cheers for that mate .
im not 100% sure about the serial number on the Wilson V2 .
purely going for top end so i figured that more flow = more power !!
hopefully my theory isnt floored , lol . I wanna run 28psi all over so more flow should enable me to do this , haha .

Your small engine will not outflow a 65mm TB, regardless of what you do. TBs are sized primarily to volumetric airflow, not mass airflow. This being the case, going larger than 65mm will not give you 'more flow'.

ive read various posts where a larger, better flowing throttle body does offer more top end . Yes it may be a case of 10whp but the gains are still there to be had even if im not maxxing out the stock component . Also a bigger TB will allow the intake manifold to work more effectively !!
It isn't as much about making the factory TB larger as it is making it more efficient (less turbulent). You asked me why I chose the 75mm TB, and it's because I preferred the clean, leakproof design. Otherwise, the functional difference between 65mm and 75mm in this context is nil - both are overkill for a 2L engine. The intake manifold is a separate entity.

ok well ive decided to change the TB anyway, probable as much for looks as anything . Nice chrome would look good in there !!
Do you approve of my choice regarding the Wilson V2 Inlet Manifold ?? Will it be a good step up from the stocker with my combo ?? Im hoping it will net be around the 500whp or a little less on a safe setup . Think its possible ??

No one can argue with seeking better aesthetics.
I see no problem with you going with one of the 9sec9 manifolds. There are several different versions (a little confusing), so find the one that's best for you. I'd check if that will be compatible with the TB you intend to use in advance.
