Choking at high boost

I just installedexhaust headers O2 housing evo 9 turbo Fp 18psi wastegate and a test pipe this last wekend, the car has way more power but at hightower boost the engine is choking/poping kinda sounds like a back fire but there's a loss of power only for a split second. It used to do this with my previous setup but now it's doing it way more. I was thinking that maby my fuel pump can't handle it cuz it kinda feels like a slight fuel cut , I am not running a boostcontroller could this also be my problem?

Thanks for the help

Aaron

You're going to need a tune after all those parts installed. I'd lay off the throttle until you look at the A/F ratio with a wideband or go to your local tuner.

u def need a tune. for one reason, u upgraded a turbo. although it is still an oem turbo, it is slightly larger and therefore tuned different for a stock evo 9 ecu compared to ur evo 8 ecu.
the exhaust should not affect it that much? what other mods do u have? turbo back exhaust?

u shouldn't need a fuel pump when just changing to the 9 turbo. however, u definately need a tune. i would advise taking it easy until u get it.

A tune is definitely needed. Are there any problems on the lower end or are they just at max boost? I would get a boost controller too, you can turn up the juice a little bit and it will be even better after you get the tune on there.

You are most likely experiencing fuel cut. Like the others advise...get a tune!
