Here read this information, it's a lot but at least you'll be better educated about oil. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/aehaas/index.html

Think with your dipstick guys! j/k.......5w 30 winter, 10w 30 summer, Penzoil/Fram filter oil from Wal-Mart usually its about $20 for a 5 qt jug...sometimes OEM filter when they give them away for free at Mitsubishi Owners meets. No ticking, oil comsumption is good although I have a little leak on my return line that I need to fix.

405 WHP/ 347 Tq 50 trim Garrett BB turbo, daily driven 75K miles

I agree they make more power, which futher proves my point.
He makes "gobs more torque and hp" because it is a NHRA PRO STOCK CAR! It is a 500 cubic inch V8, and a car that is built with thousands upon thousands of dollars in sponsorship money, and the trailer it is towed in costs more than your house does! What he, or John Force, or Michael Shumacher put in their engines means NOTHING. If they pissed in the valve cover and said it made HP, would you get up out of your chair and give your 4G63 a golden shower?

The fact of the matter is, a fully built from scratch engine using almost nothing from a major automotive manufactuer, in a race car that is sponsored with more money than you or I will earn in two decades, with a team of engine builders which have an engine blueprinted to their exact specifications, will run an oil made for their perticular setup. Are you telling me that an NHRA Pro Stock engine has the same bearing clearances as our engines? Or run similar oil pumps? Hell, I thought they ran dry sump oil systems!

These guys haven't yet explored what is possible in oil,(that I've heard of) so how could they be aware of what I'm proposing. There is someone currently speaking with Alisyn in conjunction with 4G63's, but all in due time...
Come on man, are you kidding? Curt Brown, Kiggly, John Shepherd, Marco Passante, David Buschur, ect. probably have run more different types of oil, different combination of parts, and have blown up more **** and seen way more failures of every single component of these engines/cars than ANYONE else on here has even began to claim, and they were doing it long before the Evo was thought of being brought to the states, and before turbochargers and all wheel drive was as common or cool as it is today. I'm much more likely to take their advice than anyone else's.

If I thought there were better lubricating properties in my urine than in the oil I'm using, and it remained vicious enough, during the time I needed to run it, I might consider it.

So, three weeks ago when they switched from their normal oil to the thin stuff they had to recalibrate the entire oil system? Let me answer it for you. They didn't.

Types as in brands of oil? I'd say yes. Lighter weights? I'd say no. It's just not common thought yet. Until one of them says otherwise, I'd have to go with that they would use old school type mentality, which is thicker is better. I have respect for these guys you mention. They help push us further, and faster for longer.

Did you read this ? http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/aehaas/index.html

Chances are if you are using the weight of oil as thin as you guys do, urine might be a better option in terms of engine longevity.

What kind of oil pump setup and clearances are they running in that engine? Did the temperature change? Might I remind you, it is a race engine, buit with one purpose in mind.

I used mobile 1 10w 30 with stock motor and turbo. Building it now and when done will most likely use 15w 50 mobile 1. Use to use it back In the dsm days and was wonderful

I'm sorry, but some of this info is not for you, and I've already said too much, the other can be found by searching the internet...

Tried a different Amsoil with this last change. Series 3000 Synthetic 5W-30 Heavy-Duty Diesel Oil (HDD) So far, it seems to be the best Amsoil I have used so far!
