I have an Autometer gauge and mine reads 20-21 VAC when idle and peak boosts between 17-19 depending on what gear I am in

Autometer boost gauges are notorious for being off; depending on your sample of the lot. Don't assume your car is weak because a discount gauge tells you so. Check the level when the car is off, first. It should sit at dead zero. Even if it does, the Autometers have been tested to be off up in the higher range.

Is that so? I'm also not hitting 19psi. I did only once in my 4 months of ownership.

I posted in another thread that my Autometer gauge zeroes out just under the zero box. Autometer blows. I'm chucking this POS and getting an Omori. I show 16psi peak and 14-15 hold. A couple of days ago, when it zeroed out correctly, it would hit 19psi.

I'm afraid to trust this cheap POS gauge to turn up the boost on my $30,000 car.

Omori gauges, here I come. I had Omori before, but thought I could get away cheap this time. I'm an idiot. Thumbs down Autometer!
