so my syncros and starting to go bad and insted of getting a rebuld ive decided to just get a new trans so i can just do the swap myself. i found a good evo 9 trans but I have an 03' evo WITHOUT ACD would the nine trans work in mine?

 

ACD is Transfer case related not tranny

 

^+1. The ACD has no effect. 05 evos have the same exact trans as the 03-04 and it has an ACD. The difference in the trannys from the 8's to the 9's is the gearing.

 

ok thats what i thought i wanted to be 100% i started thinking of lsd in tranys like my teg and was thinking there might be some electrical things with the acd or something that might not work or something

 

ya i know theres a little difference in the 9 and 8. isint it longer 1st and shorter 5th in the 9? i think that sounds good i didnt realy like the 5th in my evo to much of a jump from 4th to 5th so i would like the shorter 5th but 1st seemed perfect but ile make the compromise for a good trans

 

Yes the 9 trans will work. All the ACD and LSD are located inside the transfer case.

But just realize that the gearing is different. The IX has longer 1st same 2nd but shorter 3rd 4th and 5th gears.

I just got an Evo VIII trans from Shep with Street Strip build and evo ix 1st gear. I hate the IX shorter gears thats why I got the VIII upper gearing. Its my daily driver so I had to buy a core from them to have it rebuilt. Then I'll swap and send mine in as a core return credit.

Just make sure you agree with the IX gearing.

 

I hate the huge jump from 4th to 5th in the IX .

 

Here you go... Its just way too clean. I cant decide whether to put it in or use it as an art sculpture for guests. lol

sounds like the best trans would be a evo 8 trans with evo 9 1st and 5th ahh if only
