penthouse, you just need better cams and a better FMIC. I seriously doubt your car would make more peak power at 30 psi on E85 with a swap to a BBK.

AMS/ETS FMIC and the S2's should get you over 500whp on E85 with the Red on a dynojet...the BC 272's are weak; the Greddy 264's I have made as much power as the BC 272's on AMS's cam test

Penthouse yank those pos crower cams for some S2's and call it a day with e85 man. You'll be at 500 DJ.

Someone must be creating accounts to vote for the RED too, LOL.

WOW! Those are #s I could be VERY happy with! I NEED this turbo!

I have a question though, how much less HP do you guys think I would make with the HKS 272s that I'm already running? (I know there are alot of HKS cam haters out there, but I put them in the car over four years ago)

I'd say somewhere around 10-25whp less and probably a few ft-lbs also (depending on additional mods, boost, fuel). But I think the real difference between your HKS 272s and the S2's will be in your actual powerband

It's still funny to me that this thread is comparing a 47lb/min turbo (even though it acts more like a 54lb/min turbo) to a 57(or is it 60?)lb/min turbo. The BBK Full is still IMHO the best performing pump gas turbo on the market for 99% of evo owners. It's a simple, reliable setup that just works.

Really in a few weeks/months this thread should then become FP Red vs BBK-B but we all know its going to be FP Black vs BBK-B and again, not be an even comparison, but the numbers will still be impressive from the underdog.

I guess what it comes down to is...
BBK = stock spool with slightly less top end
FP RED = few hundred rpm's slower spool with more top end

Really what I wanted with this thread (and I think I achieved) was people's opinions on both turbos that way others can look through and make an informed decision for themselves before spending $1300+

I think that FP Red vs BBK-B/XL (whatever it's going to be named) will be a good comparison and comparing to the FP BLACK wouldn't be fair. I should've specified which BBK in the OP but when I made this, I never knew there was a Full AND a Lite. I just ASSumed it was the Full.
