Evo 8 with ACT HDSS clutch

Evo 8 with ACT HDSS clutch

I tried searching on the forums but did'nt find anyone with the same problem or a proper answer to this.. I start the car and let it sit there for like 10 minutes to warm up and then, when I try putting it into the first gear, it just wont go... I try other gears but no luck! Then I rev the engine to 2.5K and the gear engages in like a hot knife in butter!

In stop and go traffic I feel the car hesitates going into gears and I have to rev again. After driving for couple of minutes it shifts normal.

I changed the transmission oil/Tcase oil , tried adjusting the clutch but no luck..

Took the car to the dealership and they say I have to replace the clutch as its a clutch issue? It doesn't slip at all!

Thanks in advance guys!

Try adjusting the clutch pedal so it grabs a little higher towards the top of the pedal

any update? My car has the same problem but usually when the car hasnt warmed up all the way. Most of the time it happens when I am at a red light and let the clutch out while the car is in neutral, and then when the light turns green and I put it in first I have to rev it a little to get it in b/c at idle it wont go into first.

I have the same clutch on my Evo 8 but I have no issues whatsoever ....Brian at GST installed mine...I read it could be an install issue from what others have said in other threads...but don't quote me on that.

I'll play around with the pedal adjustment when I get a chance but mine feels like it engages/disengages pretty high already.

how old is the clutch?
sometimes you can have clutch issues with actually it slipping.
if you clutch is having issues disengaging as it sounds like it has nothing to do with slipping.

your problem lies somewhere in between the action of pushing the pressure plate.

start with your clutch adjustment, check your clutch fluid level (same as brake), bleed clutch line. after you have done the following get back to us...

it only happens when I first start up the car and it hasnt warmed up yet that its hard to get into first gear at idle. After searching through some threads it appears that this is normal for evo transmissions until the fluid warms up. When the car is all warmed up it shifts fine. I never noticed this with the stock clutch though, and it started after I got my ACT HDSS clutch installed. I guess Evos dont like the cold!
