Help!!! My baby is whining
when im driving down the road ill begin to get a random hard left drive, and the slower i go theres this roaring noise that gets louder and louder than when i come to a stop it feels like the wheels lock up briefly cuz i can here the tires slide on the ground. and after sitting for bout 5 minutes, ill drive again and it will go away for bout 2 minutes or so then ill get the left drive again. Can anyone help!!?
Can you actually hear your brakes squealing when you come to this stop? Does a noise come from a particular wheel? Maybe a piston on your caliper partially seized. I would usually say a random wheel bearing went bad, but it is a little strange to see it go away after letting things cool down. So, my guess is it is brake related, either kinked line, seized piston in caliper, or cracked pad or foreign material jammed up against the rotor making the sound when the rotors get hot and expand, when they contract a little the noise goes away they get hot again from driving. Jack it up, if it is from one specific wheel, take the wheel off and try and remove the caliper, if you can't, or its a real PITA than a piston seized (I have seen a few threads on here about that happening). Inspect the pad and rotor, see if the rotor is warped, if so get it turned or replace it. If the pad is cracked, replace it. Bleed the lines to make sure you have decent hydraulic flow. If all else fails, possibly a wheel bearing but thats weird with the odd braking and intermittent problems.
Try and be more descriptive about where it comes from, what wheel, etc.
Good luck

no brake squeeling when i stop. i just feel it in the brakes when the tire locks up. cant tell if its both front right and rear that locks up or just the front right, but the roaring definetely is coming from the front right.. and i just did it again and it was smoking a little bit, cant really explain the smell, but never smelt burnt brakes before so not sure if its that. im gonna try taking off the front right caliper and check it out, thanx for that advice btw. and if it helps any, its really cold here right now, but who knows if that has anything to do with it. thx for the help
