ACT 6 Puck Sprung vs Exdey Twin Disk

Im debating on what cluch will suit me better.

- Im planning on running 450-500WTQ

- Is the 6 Puck really that bad as a DD...

Id reather spend $700 for a cluch reather then$1,600... so my question i guess is, "It the twin disk really worth the price...

I went from the ACT to the HD twin....YES its worth it...and the car is easier to drive with the HD twin plate...when and if you get it do the extra wave spring mod or the fork stop mod from STM.

ACT 6 puck here and love it. All the lock-out issues seem to be with the street discs.

I have an ACT 6 puck, and i like it. "Does it grab hard?" yes....... "is it finicky to drive?" Yes until your used to it...and even then it can be a pain......"Is it better then an exedy twin? absolutly not, you get what you pay for.

It's been said time and time again, the exedy twin is the way to go bottom line. If your not pushing big power (say over 380TQ...i know there rated higher) i'm sure it would hold up under normal conditions, but i really would'nt trust it past that. My car came with the ACT in it, and it was pretty much brand new when i got the car.

everyone that has the exedy can vouch for that clutch. i know if i needed to upgrade i would try and hold off that extra bit to save for the best. you wont know till you try it out. good luck with your decision. oh btw ive got a street disc ACT .

1600.00 sounds high for an exedy twin. PM me for a lot better price and I will even though in a free fork stop.

ACT 6 pucks are good clutches, not really that hard to daily drive with one. The big drawback to me is don't expect to get much mileage out of one DD'in it. It's a race clutch not a high mileage design or material.

You'd probably get at least twice the mileage out of a twin. That's got to be a consideration in price. You don't want to be doing an evo clutch job every year or two. I don't.

Unsprung I would say yeah. They do engage harder than a standard material. Sprung is not too bad my car has burned through 1 sprung 6 puck act with no ill effects. The CC stage 3 I have now is easier to DD.

I used to run an ACT with 6 puck, Hell we went 10.6@136 with one. I will never do it again though. Once it gets hot it will still lock you out. Trust me, I pulled my tranny apart only to find a bunch of bad synchros and cracked gears.

If you are interested in and exedy keep this in mind.

The twin plates are good to about 120-125 mph traps

Anything at or around 130 mph and above traps should not use a twin. It will slip. The tripple cera matalic will handle just about anything you can through at it. We use one in our car and it works great. We have trapped 156 so far with no problems at all.

The only reason we used an ACT is because of the clips coming off of the Exedy. We were tired of taking out the tranny after every other pass to replace it. With the new stop we have not had to do it once.
