This is very interesting, but pointless at the same time. You want time attack, there are plenty of setups to get you there very effectively. Wouldn't you think AMS would have already been down this road if it made sense. They have the ability to pretty much do whatever they could think up. Do you really thing that because it makes all of that power down low it will actually be usable on a track? Little thing called traction that he will have a problem with. Same with the drag strip. Their is a balance between power and tractability that must be monitored. Look at Dynoflash AL. He ran slower with 1000hp that he did with 7xxhp. He crossed over to where the power was no longer useful and caused more issues than it did knock time off at the track. Buschur could easily make an Evo with 900-1000 hp for drag, but I would be willing to bet that it would go no faster than high 8s even thought the bad bish almost runs 8s with under 700hp.

Norris Designs has some cool stuff, no doubt. Doesn't make it any better when the cost far out weights its usage.

1. If you think this is pointless, so are cat-back's and boost controllers.

2. AMS did come up with a twincharged setup, that they did not end up using due to complexity.

3. Traction is not the issue, powerband is. Having a powerband where TQ is directly related to Throttle Position is what they are looking for here. Having that sort of response is very hard to do whilst making this much power, therefore this package was created.

4. On the drag strip more power= faster traps, plain and simple. Unless your spinning to the 1320, if you add power you are going to go faster. With advanced forms of traction control and boost control, there is nothing that isn't possible when it comes to turbocharged cars getting traction.

5. If you can't afford it don't complain about the price.

Scorke, Very well summed up mate!

i just have a few points to add re EVO Dreams post:

on the point of complexity, who knows whats actually going to be in the kit??? Simon deffinately hasn't public told anyone in the UK whats in it. i guess there are only a hand full of people that know, one of them will be the owner of the car (its not for any of Simons cars!!!!!!). untill then 'we' dont know how complex Simons 'system' is!

The above also impacts costs! if we dont know whats in the kit we dont know how much its going to cost do we??

finally you mentioned "Wouldn't you think AMS would have already been down this road if it made sense" all i have to say to this is if AMS had have done it would you, and others, have the same comments???

Not trying to be an **** here, just trying to inform people of the facts around the work Simon and his team are doing.

Chris.

This statement made absolutely no sense at all. I don't even know where you are trying to go with that

Reading > you. I said, "Wouldn't you think AMS would have already been down this road if it made sense". It didn't make sense, so they moved on!

Having on tap doesn't make it useful. Try driving a 1000+hp N/A V8. Power whenever you want it, but still not usable in 99% of all situations.

You haven't been down a strip to much have you? There are FAR more variables than can even be discussed here that attribute to a better time at a track. As for traction control, would you like someone to hold the wheel for you as well?

5. If you can't afford it don't complain about the price.

Does your e-***** feel bigger now. It is not about affording it, you tool. It is about being smart in the way of modifying a vehicle and the money invested into it. Why spend money when you don't have to.

What ways evodream? What system is going to give you 15psi from 2000rpm in any gear? N2o can but only for short periods between bottle refills! Compound, sequential or vnt turbocharging could but no one has put it into the market yet.

Easy buddy, you got some anger you need to vent somewhere.... I won't even address the rest of your replies as they were not about the issue at hand but rather some issue you have with me.

There are no other ways of achieving the same results as this kit.

No other setup out right now can deliver this sort of tq down low and power up top, so you are incorrect.

Nice numbers, but using a straight 24% drivetrain loss factor just doesnt make sense. 239 horsepower lost is just funny, and I dont understand how the concept eludes so many people.

Well Norris Designs have dyno'ed there engine both in and out of the car and that the figure they use. this was done one both slightly modded and extreamely modded engines!

and why wouldn't a drive train use %age? Its not going to take XXbhp to turn the gearbox. its a % of the power that is being put through it. what so hard to understand???......

yeah unfortunately i dont think Norris Design dicided to take the project further. There is another guy here in the UK developing a twin charged setup for his nsprint/hillclimb EVO. looks pretty bloody impresive so far but no numbers yet. Its still in the R&D stages though. however the drive is WAY faster than he was with his last setup!

for peole that dont get Hillclimbs/sprints its basically a timed race up a hill. fastest time wins. normally the tracks are VERY narrow and tight. so you need all the torque you can get an a very fast responding setup. and thats what this guys has devloped. thsi thing would be killer on the street!!!....
