"hanging RPMs" at speed...
"hanging RPMs" at speed...
I'm not really sure where to post this problem.
I noticed this "hanging revs" problem after testing out my recent Fidanza 3.2 clutch/lightweight flywheel install about a month (800 miles) ago. There doesn't seem to be any problem with the clutch at all, I am very happy with it. I got into boost once prior to the install, as per the Fidanza instructions, to check the clamping force when I noticed it, but have been driving easy since then.
With the clutch broken in I can finally play around, the problem happens above 5k, when I accelerate hard and get into 10+lbs. and shift into neutral, the revs will just hang there. I've tried to stab or feather the throttle/clutch pedals, nothing works; they won't come back down unless I put it in gear again. The engine stays at the exact RPM it was in when I take it out of gear. With the new lightweight flywheel, I was expecting the revs to do the direct opposite. I thought it was going to be just a normal clutch break in bug, but it's still happening.
I did the TB seals today, and checked everything dealing with the TB as well, but nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Iv'e searched but the two threads that came up were pertaining to aftermarket ECUs.

Mine does the same thing, and 2 of my friends cars, All SSL's. I asked Sean Ivey about it he said that he tuned it out of the ecu but it still does it on occasion. Every time it happens a slight depress of the clutch petal will let the rpms drop.
Have the same issue from time to time. But i just cleaned out my Throttle body....i seems to get a little dirty. Not sure if that correlates because i use meth or not....But it still does it, just not as bad.
I had rev hang problems up the wazoo, but it was because of boost leaks. I fixed the boost leaks and replaced my oem bov, rev hang completely gone. Thats bizzare.
Try this, when youre in gear and youre driving along normally (not hard or anything), put some upward pressure on your shifter and then get off the throttle. Youll end up pushing the shifter into neutral and the revs SHOULD just drop. I tried this just to make sure it wasnt driver error from perhaps clutching in a tad too soon while still being on the throttle
