HTA green or red... i cant decide!!

Im torn right now on what turbo to pick up

my 2 choices are the HTA green or the 80MM red

stock block
arp's
272 cams
AEM

be staying 93 pump gas but im also setup for e85. I know the red is going to make more power past 30lbs of boost but on pump ill be staying under that

My guess is spool time shouldnt be much different being the hta green has a 65mm wheel vs red's 67. Thing im worried about is i DD the car and i dont want a very laggy setup.

also has anyone still had issues with the red's surging even with the 80mm surge port?

decisions decisions.................

thanks guys, appreciate the opinions

i would go with red just because its capable of more, but if i had the choice i would go with black. Sooner or later your going to want more hp and then youre going to have to upgrade. Why not just go big now?

for a DD and under 30 psi I would prefer the spoolup characteristics of the green HTA... for drag and/or built motor with 30+ psi I would pick Red out of those 2 choices, but more likely pick black over the Red in that case

another option if considering the green HTA is the CBRD BBK turbo- if its not enough power for you down the road you can have it converted to the BBK- B version which will be more like a Red... love my ported BBK!

wanting more is relative. what are your goals? What are you going to do with the car? If its a daily driver, then I definitely don't recommend Black. too laggy.. If a 400-450whp car with supporting mods are your goal, then a BBK full or HTA73 should be perfect fits. You have to be honest with yourself and what you want in the end. Recommendations will be given accordingly.. good luck

i wont be pushing the stock block past 450whp, i will be going 2.3L just dont know when so thats why i figure the red would be a good choice to. From the very small ammount of hta green dyno charts it only looks like it may spool a few hundred rpms faster than the reds

I have a green on my E85 DD. Love the quick spool on it. Daily it's set to 25psi and track/fun, I bump it to 30psi. No problems or worries. Highly recommended.

I remember a few members saying the torque put out by the HTA Green is a bit to high for a stock motor.

reds are for sale because people want the fp black. The fp black is going to be the ultimate street turbo. can do big hp if needed. if your a spool nut then the choice is easy hta green if you dont mind alittle lag then the black simple as that the black can do 450whp easy with less stress on the turbo then the green but its basically

spool in boost quicker = Green
alittle lag potential for monster power =black

i think to many think the lag between the to is extremely noticiable. i would say fp black and be happy.
