I agree. You might be better off on selling your stock turbo for a couple hundred dollars and then using that towards your new turbo, or buying the green and then recouping some of the costs by selling the stock turbo.

hmm i dont know about that taking average evo 9 turbo prices

average evo 9 turbo rate 400. YOU CAN GET ONE CHEAPER IF YOU LOOK

after upgrade
green 1269, 1419(80mmcover)
Red 1399, 1549(80mmcover)
black 1499

brand new

hta green 1695
fp red 1799
fp black 1999

now savings

green 276
fp red 250
fp black 500

lol thats alot better then then the 100 your claiming sorry hommie its better to go the evo 9 upgrade route period. after they work there magic its all new dont have to worry about if the used turbo was abused etc. I personally would never buy a used turbo and rather get new prices or get a used evo 9 have it rebuilt for cheaper so that its all new and dont have to worry about abuse. oh just saw you wanted ported subtract 95 for all savings then but your still ahead. only issue is waiting but you have to wait sometimes for the good stuff

add 129 for a wastegate and that drops to 140 bucks, then i have to wait almost a month

and yea i could probably find a 9 turbo for about 400 but another thing is if the divider is cracked fp charges almost another 300 for a new exhaust housing

i agree buy it new and get it now and not have to wait but if you could get a 9 turbo for 300-350 might consider it lol. if you need to bolt on now then do your thing lol. i have time lol my black has been sitting in my closet since december lol and will remain in there until jesse b is done with my custom manifold and i get the little stuff cams timing belt. just take your time and i say save your money and get the fp black the first time. That way you can keeping turning up the boost if your a junkie that knows you will require more. I had the red and fiqured i might as well get the black seeing if i might want more power dont know never used my red either it sat in the closet but just save up and do it right the first time.

Love your testing mike lol i just have to learn how to read dyno charts correctly lol . No dynos were i live and never seen one lol. I love how you push it to the extreme so if you blow it we all know where the line is drawn. so if liquid was able to get 517whp and 490tw out his on e85 and you got 500+out bbk i wonder what your going to do with the hta green . btw once your done testing the green black and red will you promote a overall winner as in best bang for the buck. not saying just cause you make XXXwhp this is the one to go with

There will never be a 1 size fits all turbo so the testing wont be for that.. I recommend different turbos based on different goals and setups.. With this testing it allows me to make the right decision for my customers when they ask me what turbo to use and state their plans with the car.. I dedicate my time and $$ to finding what turbo does what so that my customers can buy the right turbo the 1st time and not have to swap thru turbos finding out the hard way..

Thanks mike, that does help

i figure in the long run the green wont be enough once i go 2.3 but the red/black may not be as great on the stock 2.0 but will shine on the 2.3 built motor

The black turbo inlet compressor is to small in my opinion. the turbo surges while acellerating because its choking. I have a red and had the 63 mm cover at first and was having surging issues like crazy, untill I replaced it with the 80 mm cover and things are much smoother with the red turbo I have. If you want to go big go with a 6262 turbo and go twinscroll. Unless fp comes out with a larger inlet for the 35r based stock frame black turbo.

We are seeing NO SURGE at 38psi on our test car with the black.. Im not much of a fan of choked up twin scroll small turbos either.. Just my .02..

have you noticed alot of folks vendors as well slamming the fp black like crazy oh its good but at 35r+ kit thats 2k more is better. The black has showed some most impressive numbers for what it is. a 6262 kit is expensive. I hear the augument oh if you were to kit out the black then your almost there in price. well you can keep it all stock and just bolt on the turbo and bigger injectors and rock out. the average person is not going to go and get 600+whp. 1. cost to much money to get there. I just find it funny how i never see fp on the boards knocking 35r+ kits. The black is another choice to get 35r power without going in waay to deep in the bank account lol wait till the next color comes out i wonder what kind of power that will handle. You and br have never knocked the stockframe market and realize theres waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more money to be made in that market then force feeding a 4k turbo kit down a person throat. Thanks for pushing all the colors to shut people up in the industry MIKE. I know i can come to you for the right advice the first time and not have certain parts shoved down my throat.
