Bringing back a super old thread.
I read through the whole thread and was debating on a Red or hta green then the OP bought a black, which is confusing me as well lol

I just want a dd stock motor with headstuds. 450+? The black can easily do that , but would the black just be overkill? I'm guessing 21-24 pounds of boost dd?

I have a question that im sure has been answered and if not it wont be too hard to answer. I have an 05 VIII and I was wondering would it be possible to have my stock turbo upgraded to a HTA Green or Red? I know that the 05 turbo has the upgraded hot side 10.5 and the evo 9 turbo is even updated a little more but if not much is different couldn't my turbo be upgraded? Just wondering...

The answer is no. Its not the hotside that is the problem. You have the correct hotside 10.5. The bearing housing and compressor cover are both larger on evo 9. So the 8 turbo is not suitable core for build.

if ur all about the straightline, get the red. If u like to use ur steering wheel, get the HTA. Thats what it boils down to and why i went with the HTA

Will FP upgrade an "Old School" Green to Black specs? The "Old-School" starts life as a IX turbo, doesn't it?

You're better off selling the OG Green for 6-700 bucks and then buying a used Evo IX turbo for $400 and having FP convert that.

Yes, you must be correct, because either way they would have to recut both the turbine housing and the compressor housing to fit the Black's larger wheels.

As far as you are concerned, Erik.....you owe me a ride in your reconfigured MR out through Stunt Rd., and Rambla Pacifica in the Santa Monica Mountains(Check the coordinates on Google Earth). I am not letting you off the hook so easily, BTW, buddy.

I'll let you know when it's fully "re-configured."
