High mileage drop-in piston/rod

Wanted to get an idea of how many evos with say 75,000 miles or over have gone with that combo. Successes/failures, all is welcome. I have about 91,000 on mine but wanted to get an idea as to how many have done it and how it has held up. Also, feel free to throw in quotes or any other types of costs involved. Thanks .

If memory serves me correct Buschur recommended not surpassing 25-35k miles for drop in piston/rod combos

as far as cost you are tearing the whole motor down...might as well built the block right rather than crossing your fingers that the specs are all in tolerance at 91k miles

that's playing with fire imo

Build the short block, do it the right way. You may even look into a 4G64 block because they are cheaper then the 4g63. Also, you could have it built so you don't have any down time.

just took my block to the machine shop last week. my car had 75,000 well maintained babied miles on it. my block looked gorgeous with factory cross hatching all through every cylinder. However the numbers dont lie. My block was in need of a 3 thousandths bore at least to get the cylinders round and perfect again. this is not within factory specs and will not work properly with drop in pistons. spend the extra money and build it the first time before you end up costing yourself more money later down the line. imo

Ok, yea I was curious as to how many of the drop-in setups were attempted with high mileage. Great to hear some feedback on it. I know I've seen it done on here with good results, as well as hearing some poor. Not sure if anyone attempted it this this kind of mileage though. I'll let the block ride.
