Exedy Twin PEEPS

Quick ?. Did a search and only came up with how to adjust a clutch. I got that down but with the twin are you guys having your pedal almost releasing at the very top with minimal play at the top or are you guys getting the full 3mm. I have mine where I have good play on both sides of where it engages but am having some troubles on occassion getting the car into gear. Just curious if anyone has any insight. Thanks

Aaron

Mine was installed about 1200 miles ago. I love it! Mine goes about 70% up then engages. There is no play with that clutch! Either it is on or off. No feathering that bad boy. I still kill it every now and again. Well worth the 2,000 for the install and parts. I am at 380/375 and no other clutch would work for me with this setup!Enjoy!

Thanks for the reply man. Mine releases at almost the very top right now but I still get the occassional won't go into gear. I am going to give her a 1/4 to 1/2 turn back down so i can have a little play at the top but I think that's about all I am going to do. I am wondering if some motor mounts wouldn't help out. I am going to order shifter bushing too.

Anyone else?

typically exedy twins are known to release very close to the floor...which is the reverse of the stocker and an ACT clutch per-say

when you say top do you mean furthest from the floor or closest to the floor?

if you mean further...you need the adjust the clutch inward

Mine is releasing furthest away from the floor. It also goes into gear better when it's that far up. When I have it adjusted down it doesn't want to go into gear when it's sitting.

very odd that you have a high release point, yet you are having shifting problems. something else is going on.

if applicable, is the adjustment screw on the clutch pedal maxed out - ie, there is no more room to adjust it so that the release point is lower? if so, adjust it to the lowest possible setting. then bleed the clutch properly, after which you can make the necessary clutch pedal adjustment.

also be sure your shifter cables and brackets are properly connected and torqued down, respectively. be sure to also check that the shifter is properly adjusted.

I had this problem as well, I adjusted the clutch pedal where engagement was closer to the floor and it got a bit better, still the occasional hard to get in gear moment...

Ok I'll give that a try and check that out. This might help out, I think maybe I am getting a little lock out because everything isn't lining up. If I let off the brake and the car rolls a little bit it'll go right in if I am having trouble. Also 5th and Reverse are always easy to get the car into, it's mainly just First and Second and then Third is a little easier and 4th is pretty easy and then 5th and reverse goes in fine. That's only if it gets locked out and doesn't want to go in. Clutch has probably 1k or so on it so not completely broken in yet either.

I'll try bleeding it and then adjusting it a little back to the floor and see if that helps. My adjustment screw has like 4 threads still hanging out the other side of the adjuster so not maxed out yet. Grabs about 80 to 85% of the way up right now.

you might be having some gear lockout, how many miles do you have on the clutch?

I'll give it a try....I know they bled the clutch when they put it in and it's weird how sometimes it wants to go in and sometimes it doesn't. I am going to put her a few threads back in at lunch today and see if that helps.

I have the problem where I step on the clutch to disengage it coming to a stop and it lags and almost kills the car before the revs come back up into idle. Very odd..

That wouldn't be a clutch issue. What BOV are you running? Also you might do a boost leak test.

Update, adjusted the clutch down at lunch and it made it worse. So I am thinking that maybe I need to go a tad the other way from where I was. I adjusted it back up a little and will drive it again on the way home. I am hoping to get it dialed in this weekend and be able to post up what I did. I am also going to look into motor mounts, I think I might need them.
