I had a shearer dump on my last evo with a fp red. It was a very nice piece, but I just don't see the benefits in running a o2 dump. In hindsight, I'd rather run a proven tubular o2 housing and spend the money on a good tubular exhaust manifold.

On my current evo, I'm running a megan o2 housing which works great. (and is a lot less annoying)

Lightbulb a simple gragh

a simple graph would be nice
showing some actual testing

7 pages and a picture is
worth a butt (dyno) load of customers,
or not . . .

I actually have a completely divorced 02 dump on my Evo with an FP Red.

Here are the Benefits.

• The pipe is actually much larger than the OEM or any other aftermarket 02 housing, it is effectively an 02 eliminator and fairly effective.
• The exhaust is larger than OEM or any other aftermarket downpipe that must neck down to fit to the OEM 02 housing or any aftermarket 02 housing that again must neck down for the stock fitment.
• The Dump allows for much improved boost control. You are not dumping it back into the exhaust, completely divorced setup.
• Makes your exhaust setup more efficient as you are dumping otherwise shared wastegate exhaust gases into the atmosphere.
• Really REALLY cool sound that is on demand, quiet off the boost.

Here are the Down Sides

• Some people do not like the “dump” sound, they are wrong but que sera sera.
• More expensive then porting an OEM 02 housing (Buschur found 15WHP on his race car with the Megan SS unit!) or adding a Megan unit and so on.
• You need to make sure it lines up with your cat back. My Evo dump just made was 2” too long so I had to trim my cat back. Fits fine now.

This is what I found when I switched from a Titek O2 housing to a JMFab O2 dump on my IX w/Red...

The red line is the Titek tuned @26psi...the blue line is the JMFab with no changes (ign, fuel, boost etc.)
The car came on boost a little later but definitely held more boost out the top...
I've since preloaded the actuator a bit more to bring the spoolup back in line.

This is by no means a direct comparison as the 2 logs were taken on different days, slightly different temps etc. This just happens to be the only data I have to compare.

Look at the boost up top! Amazing, a dump should be standard. I wonder how well it'll work at 30PSI.

The higher the boost the better it works. Look at my car at 40psi, how much do you think my dump is helping??? We think 45-50+whp over a stock recirc. I am planning on testing it on a back to back.

Is there any gain from using an external wastegate on the same port where the actuator flap would be ?

That would be silly, just wled the fu.cker shut at that point and add an external gate to your existing manifold.

I have done that with twin scroll manifold but it did not work out..Unless two pipes are extracted from the point where 1and 4 ...2 and 3 make contact then merged both together than add the wastegate...TOO MUCH WORK
just put the wastegate and the actuator flapper .DONE

Completely forgot the twinscroll part, I was thinking back to my DSM days, I stand corrected.

Yes, but once you put the external on the dump tube you are technecally making it single scroll because the exhaust gasses are able to mix pre wastegate. You will lose spool... I gained a lot out the top when I went to a single scroll housing on my Black with the external wg. My car on the dyno was revved out to 8000rpms and it didn't even start to fall out at 750whp will 7500rpms. I think that was actually timing because it was 2* less at 7500+. It is going back on the dyno soon.

I can hold more boost out the top than what I am... I have a 11psi spring still in my wastegate. That is getting replaced with a 21.5psi spring set.

BLKCarbonEVO, if you converted your Black to single scroll, why not then get a larger GT series turbo with a much larger hotside? 750WHP is still amazing, IDK how you do it on such a small hot side.

I honestly didn't want a GT series turbo... I don't know if you know but the world record on the 3582 is the same hp that I have on my FP Black however, the FP Black is making 65+whp at 7500 and 75whp at 8000 then the 3582.

My car is still not maxed out. I plan to get 775+whp and then will see where I go from there... I truely love the FP Black so I doubt I'll get rid of it

Well you know what they say, once you go Black, you never go back. That is mostly because your family won't take you back.
