easy test:

go buy a cheap mechanical boost gauge.

if it reads less than 29psi, well damn, i think this AEM speculation can be put in the toilet
if it reads greater than 29psi, well damn this too, i think we have an AEM problem

you guys are making this 100 times harder than it should be. lol

NO boost leak! Solenoid not letting the boost go over 28-29 PSI???

Dennis,

I told you what your problem was six months ago. If your tuner actually had a clue as to what is going on then you would not have this problem.

Here is a link to the post in case it slipped your mind.

I have a great deal of experience with the tru-boost, if you want my advice you will have to come back over to the 'darkside'.

The AEM tru-boost does not use boost pressure feedback to adjust the WGDC to hit target boost. Its all up to the user.

The only thing that would happen if he didn't buy the external sensor and ran more boost is it would stay pegged at 29.5psi until it dropped below that value.
I've never personally used the Tru Boost Controller, but if it's like any other electronic boost controller it uses a solenoid to control boost. The Tru Boost looks to have a 3 bar map sensor integrated into the gauge. They also have the option to run a 5-bar map sensor (upgrade kit) The 5-bar map sensor allows the gauge to read and control boost over 29 psi up to 75 psi.

I guess it's possible that the boost controller would run more boost, but only display the 29 psi due to the map sensor only being capable of displaying 29 psi.

You have a few tests you can do. Hook up a mechanical boost gauge that reads over 29 psi and see if the boost is in fact over 29 psi or 29 psi and not climbing.

The good thing about a mechanical boost controller is you have no electronics to get in the way Boost is Boost

Thanks!

Michael

Maybe you should just edit your first post dennis to say you have hooked boost up to the dyno so people quit assuming your pegged at 29.5 psi.

You should just get a omni 4 bar and GS 3 port solenoid and switch to ECU psi based boost control. Much better then AEM tru-boost IMO.

Check all your boost control lines.

Update! It was a f-ing boost leak! Now I'm hitting 32 PSI no problems! Thanks for all the info! And for the record, you can boost over 29.5 PSI without the upgrade kit, it just won't read correctly.

Yep project skyline was correct the entire thread. I've ran my duty cycle out to 80 on my tru-boost and the map on the dyno read 33 psi. Of course the gauge only reads 29.5 as others have stated. You can run the tru boost until its out of duty cycle at 90.
