reducing spool up time with FP black
reducing spool up time with FP black
Hello.
Im replacing my turbo to FP black and I got lil worried about my car.
I heard as you get a bigger turbo, u will get slower spool up... I used to enjoy
with my stock turbo (as u know it starts to pull hard at the low rpm.)
I m so wondering...... Now I run 370hp with pump gas and Ive done
fuel pump, exhaust, boost controller, air intake, cams, FMIC, lower & upper
intercooler
and Im getting clutches, 1000cc injections, head studs, and FP
black so far....
maybe later on, Im thinking about to getting Full race pro
stock tubular header. Do you guys hav any idea that I can reduce spool up
time(I mean start to pull hard at lower rpm) after I got FP black?? please....
let me know!!

<- my feeling right now.

Going from a stock turbo to a Black you are def going to lose some noticable spool. You will spool around 4k with the black. Grab a good EBC or do ECU Controlled Boost, E85/meth, S2cams, get a good MIVEC tuner. MIVEC helps the turbo spool faster. Also get the least restrictive exhaust possible and get a nice 3" 02 housing!

You can't have it all man. You either go big lag and have nice topend or you give up top end for low end spool up. You chose a black. So obviously you wanted top end before, so now you don't like it. I'd say BBK on E85 and call it a day.

do you think HKS carbon TI for the exhaust should be fine??? cuz tat's wat im running it now. n electronic boost controller would help??
cuz I dnt know much about mechanics and I always want someone to give me an answer HAHa

Yea man, i dont have a fp red or fp black. But i went 35r and it was alot of lag compared to the stock at first. But you get use to it qwick. Its just a sick feeling...when you have the lag...then it hits...feels just a good =P. Hope that helps lol
I hope tat will pull me suuuuuuu per hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I strongly suggest converting to E85. I hate to say it because it's been beaten to death but a FP black on 91 is just not what that turbo was meant for. That turbo was meant for big boost 32+ on good fuel. So basically you gave up all your low end to run a black in a budget sort of setup on 91 gas which is quite horrible.
Check out this thread and you will see what I am talking about. If you want to run 91 and can't get a better fuel. You need to be running a smaller turbo, preferably a BBK. What other quick spooling turbo has made 400 on 91 on a low reading Mustang dyno?
The car below would tear a fpblack 91 car apart.

why don't you actually drive the car with the FP Black and make up your own mind about it before you start saying it spools too slow? Everybody has their own ideas of what "responsive" and "laggy" should feel like, regardless of dyno sheets
