Anyone crush their AEM intake filter a bit?

When I got my car back, I noticed my friend crushed the intake a little bit when he was putting it back on. Is this alright? I've never had a conical filter this size, so it shouldn't matter if it's a little crushed, right?

After mine was installed, the top of the filter was rubbing against the black substance attached to under the hood. It kinda rubbed off some of the red filter material on the cone. I cut some of that black material from under the hood off and there is no more rubbing. I think the should have made the filter a little bit smaller...

I didn't have that problem. Mine just got a little crushed from my friend apparently trying to push it foward a little bit onto the rest of the MAF/pipe.

You have to swivel the elbow tube piece a bit so that it does not rub the hood.

Does your intake rest pretty firmly on the Intercooler fill tank?

The Filter is just a big filter. I had to move mine around and adjust the way it sits on the M.A.S. Mine rubbed some of the red material off and crushed it a little. I also removed a piece of the fire block from the hood. I was also missing a couple of pieces from AEM. They still have not sent me the parts, but they will get them right out to me.

The filter being crushed will not hurt anything other than looks, as long as it is not ripped.

AEM made 300 of them that way. the pipe is actually too long. if you contact AEM they should replace it for you.

Mine is installed and working perfectly. The filter does not rub..it has not been crushed at all by the hood. It rests with about 1/2 inch spacing between it and the Intercooler bottle.

AEM knows about the problem. If Robert Green is giving you the run around, ask for him to check with his boss Kirk Miller about the problem. They have a filter with a slightly more cone shape that fits better. They will send it to you for free. AEM really does care regardless of the impression Robert Green can give at times.

Robert Green is in charge of warranty claims there. If he is donig his job, he is the one to go through. If he gives you grief, go up the ladder from there or go through the helpful AEM dealer you bought the filter kit from in the first place. We saw the problem right off and didnt ship and out until it was fixed.
