Innovate LC-1 Wideband problems

I swear I have the worst luck.

March 2010 - WB started on the fritz, so I called innovate and they said it just required recalibration - awesome. Just randomly out of no where dies? What ever.

Fast forward 2 months to now - It has gone on the fritz 5 times in the last 2 days for no apparent reason. Recalibrating this thing is a pain in the *** - Jack up the car, pull it out, jump in it, hold button, put it back in exhaust and lower car..

Now - I switched the grounding to the engine block(from the fire wall) because they said that it "must" be grounded to it. Ok - what ever.

Now my wb02 doesnt log - logworks cant even see it. Evoscan doesnt read it. And it randomly resets now just when ever it feels like it.

Did it totally crash? Anyone had any similar problems? This wb is really starting to be the worst pile of junk I have ever used.

from my experience:

Utilize your computer to reset the wideband. When doing so, ensure that you set the wideband to the proper WB02 settings. I.E. Gasoline, Leaded fuel, etc. Recalibrate then. If this doesn't solve your issue, check your ground. Also check the power source. Where are you getting the 12V for the power of the LC-1? IIRC it has a brain as well. Where are you pulling the power for that as well?

All you need to do to cal is cut ign with TB open while coasting the press the button. Unless your pwered through ign. If so find a hill and coast for 30 seconds with ign on and tb closed then push button

All grounds go to block on different lugs near oil pan on evo

Sounds like software related, I dont use evoscan so I dont know. Are you logging through the serial?

I pull it out because I live in the city.. we dont have a hill around here I can coast down with out me driving out of my way -- and then im in a place I cant tune..

Evo scan AND logworks didnt read it.

LED stays on solid - then once in a while it flashes steady. I am going out to putz with it now.

Grounding is very important to these, double check the wiring and compare it to the documentation on their www site.

Recalibration does *not* need to be a PITA! Flip on your logger (find a friend too), and find a long, open, downhill stretch of freeway, with an exit at the bottom. Somewhere you can coast for a long time. Accelerate to ~4500-5000rpm in 4th gear and let off the gas, letting the car engine brake. Watch your logger. When Wideband reads 20+ and/or injectors duty cycle/pulswidth = 0, push the recalibration button for 3 seconds and release. Let the car engine brake as long as possible, downshifting (but not rev matching with throttle input) along the way down to 3rd and then 2nd if need be. Done and done

I thought you had to hold the calibrate button for like 30 seconds?

To recalibrate simply let the car sleep for at least 6 hr then turn on but don't start and press the button for 3 seconds then wait until the light stop blinking and you are done.

I think I will continue pulling the sensor out for re-calibrations. its the most accurate.

Are you using the analog output of the device?

Thats what caused it to crap out every other day for me. So i removed the analog wiring and after that it works just ok.

I think its due to innovates inability to do any filtering on their outputs, their products really just do not cut it in the EM environment most engines put out.

i had similar issues with mine. after 3 months, it started requiring daily recalibrations. Took it to innovative and it ended up being a malfunctioning unit. They replaced the unit under warranty. I immediately sold the brand new unit and bought a zeitronics...have had that installed for 2 years now with 0 issues
