I have taken it apart today. Yippee, just what I wanted to do during Memorial day weekend.

Anyway, I noticed your number 3 is missing the piston. I am in need of a #3 also(see pics). Is there a problem with #3 typical??

Anyway, I have to wait till tuesday to see if the head is salvageable. I believe the block is still good and the cylinder liners still look good. But I am going to see how much they would charge to bore.

Might as well put in bigger better stuff if I can afford it.

Note guys: both belts snapped due to extreme engine failure in #3 cyl.

I'd just find a stock donor motor and drop it in. No sense in building a motor if you don't really need it.

The sudden stop to rotating motion, Piston compressing a valve. can not stop the rest of the engine spinning at higher RPM, or any RPM for that matter.
Thus, the timing belt still rotating is forced to suddenly stop moving. one gear is spinning happy and the other is not moving at all, Ripping the belt apart with extreme force.

When my valves went into the chamber, Kinda like Hydrolock. At least didn't bend any rods, but what the hell, change them anyway.

Now is just a matter of deciding 20 over pistons??

That was the first thing I thought of.

I would, but the prices I have found are what it would cost me to put this back together to my specs. Also, I don't trust Used Evo motors unless I ripped one down to inspect for damage.

I have a couple of spare heads in my garage with straight valve guides, let me know if you need one I think I might have a SuperTech Valve Spring kit here that I could sell you also. PM me or email me at jmelocik@yahoo.com

Why not just clean up the bores with a Flex Hone and do a good set of pistons and rods, new bearings and drive it for another 200k?

Umm as long as there is no hole in the block his current engine is a fine canidate for a rebuild

Do you mind sharing your power and torque, and what kind of fuel you're running?

Looks like running real lean in cyl#3. The injector didn't look so good.

I would think with that many miles on the block, you'd want to go 20 over. Good luck with the rebuild.
