VR1 is very good oil, I know several pro teams that use it and swear by it... the only down side is changes every 1k miles or less... I've been using Pennzoil Racing oil lately and changing oil every 2k... 12 quarts is only $41.59 and it's a really good product...

PENNZOILŽ GT PERFORMANCEŽ RACING OIL is designed for the lubrication of high-performance competition engines. It is fortified with superior additives and oils which resist breakdown under the high loads, temperatures and speeds experienced by fast revving engines.

PENNZOILŽ GT PERFORMANCEŽ RACING OIL is compounded to be compatible with a variety of competition fuels including gasoline, methanol, nitromethane and diesel fuels. It can be used in engines that are turbocharged or supercharged as well as naturally aspirated.

PENNZOILŽ GT PERFORMANCEŽ RACING OIL protects cylinder walls, pistons, bearings and valve train components beyond the levels of conventional passenger car oils. Friction reducing agents incorporated into the formulation assure that maximum horsepower is obtained from the engine

VR-1 i am using too! It works perfectly on my built motor.

I want to try Brad Penn at some point too, but the Valvoline i can find easily, whereas Brad Penn i will have to order online...

what is wrong with using amsoil or mobil 1 on your built motor? Why is 10w 30 or 10w40 not good enough? what is buschur's reasoning behind this? to not recommend amsoil or mobil 1 on built motors?

The reasoning is because you don't just use any weight oil on a built motor.. Depending on your clearances you know what oil to recommend.. Also when you have been building motors for so long you know what WORKS so why recommend something that you dont know how well it works.. Sure I have run Amsoil 15-50 dominator in my Buschur Motors and it has been fine but for warranty reasons he recommends running what he KNOWS works..

Smart man.. Oil changes more frequently is CHEAP insurance.. also allows you to find a problem you may have going on in the motor SOONER rather than LATER..

I run the Motul 300v 15-50... Full synthetic, great oil doesn't last long though.

Synthetic + heavy weight = longer life IMO But then again I prefer road racing.

I run the Motul 300v Power in my Porsche as well.. Its funny i choose different oil brands for different applications.. LOL Seems to hold up well for long sessions Road Racing.. I run 1.5hr sessions with no issues at all.. I really like Motul Gear oil and Trans Fluid also..

http://www.amsoil.com/graphs/dominat...urBall_900.jpg Your answer has no valid data, it's just "it works" and "thats what he recommends." Why?? Buschur is not the authority on oil, and half a million dollar race cars run Amsoil and mobil 1. Why would the brian penn "perform" better than dominator? Can you elaborate? This is not to fight, I just need to know why he is saying this in more technical terms.

Buschur, if you can chime in that'd be great. Thanks
