HELP!!!! Clutch gone or Tranny gone?

Looking for some help with my 2006 IX MR. I was merging onto a highway today. I was going from 2nd to 3rd gears and I hurt a pretty noticeable bang. The car immediately did feel right. I pulled right over. I put the car in 1st and it starting bucking pretty bad. I am able to shift into all gears. But it won't stay in any gear without bucking. It is pretty loud and it bucks really hard. I felt clutch slippage before and I had no warning signs. My car has 61,000 miles on it and it has the original clutch. Is it the clutch or tranny? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've broken several trannies...you will KNOW it. Shifter problems, gears on the road, puking fluid, etc...I've seen it all. It sounds like you blew an intercooler pipe off. Grab your screwdriver and go fix it.

Yeah, doesn't sound like a drive-train problem. If your intercooler pipes popped off, sometimes your engine will not start again. Try changing your spark plugs. Mines started bucking last week, I limped it home and swapped out the plugs and it ran like a champ again.

Thanks to all. I just got home from work. I opened up the hood and I saw the upper inter cooler pipe came off. The clamp was still laying on top. This happened to me before but for some reason it just sounded and felt different. Any way it's to late to fix it. I'll do it in the AM. Thanks again
