The lock out problem and hype came about from early disks that were a tat too thick and people running around with improperly adjusted clutches.
I have an ACT, and although I don't rev to the moon, I've never had a problem shifting at 7 to 75K RPM's. Since you do plan on tracking the car they do have a full face disk available that might suit you better.

30K miles so far on my 6puck sprung with HD pressure plate. Great clutch, no lift shifts at 8000+rpm and handles all the launching I can throw at it at the track. It's only slightly more difficult to drive but I daily drive it in rush hour with no complaints.

The major cause for lockout is inadequate air gap (space between the surfaces of the disc and the mating surfaces) when the clutch is disengaged. At higher rpms, more air gap is needed regardless of brand. Usually an adjustment at the pedal to gain a little more throw at the release bearing is all that is needed. However if the parts have been severely overheated and warped, or the syncros become worn from misadjustment or abuse, no amount of adjustment is enough.

I take the time to explain this because one of the differences between the discs is that the street disc has cushioning between the linings and the race disc does not. Since the street disc has some compression, this means that the race disc will disengage sooner and therefore create more air gap than the street disc when the pedal is at the floor. Although the street disc should work just fine if the pedal adjustment is correct, the race disc definitely allows more clearance. I hope that helps.

COud this clutch last longer as an exedy twin hd ? Anyone runing with ACT and 2.3 stroker + green or bkk turbo and e85 ?

I have been running the act for 25k miles now. When I upgraded the tranny I replaced the disk and the old one still had half of its life left. I shift at 7500 with no problem.

I would go with an Exedy twin, my car is stock except for the Exedy twin and a tune I got on it. But If I had to chose from the 6 puck and street disc act, I would chose the 6 puck all day.

We have distributors all over. You can inquire on our website at www.advancedclutch.com or call us at 661-940-7555 to find someone near you. Pricing is not much different between the two. Wear is hard to estimate, since it is influenced by so many things. For instance the race disc can take more heat without wearing, but the street disc is less abrasive on the mating surfaces.

I have the ACT Xtreme Street Clutch kit and street flyweel and no lock out, I have put about 10k miles on it, the only thing is that you have to learn how to drive you car again because this clutch kicks the hell out of you! I chose the street disk because I supposed that it last longer than the 6 puck but I have the Xtreme presure plate. One thing is get the clutch line also, it is going to help a lot.

The thing is, if you have the money go with the Exedy twin, if not the ACT is a good choice, my next cluch I thing Exedy twin, I hear that it does not kick like the ACT. My opinion!
