Shifting problems?

Is it my EVO or every EVO, it shifts very hard under hard acceleration? The car is stock, is there a fix for this? Only 2,000 miles. It's about 35 degree's but the car get up to operating temp first and it is still tuff shifting.

I had similar problems ie; grinds and difficulty shifting no matter how carefully I tried to coax it. My car currently has around 2,200 miles on it. The first 800 were fine with no problems. Shortly thereafter the symptoms began to appear, it didn't matter whether it was cold or hot, but it was a tad smoother when hot. I decided to change out the fluids which I planned on doing just not so soon. What I found was that only 2 quarts were in the tranny. That's 1 quart too low and most likely contributed to the symptoms. I replaced the tranny and diff fluids with Redline fluids and all is good now. I'm sure Redline probably contributes to the smoother action, but having low fluid levels to begin with was probably a major contributor to the problems. I'm just glad I caught it early on. Those that have not changed out the factory fluids yet may at least want to check to see if they're topped off at the fill plugs.

I will check the level first and being a past Ford owner changing the stock stuff was a must!
Redline works in these cars well do they?

It definitely made an improvment, but can't honestly say if it was the oil or having proper fluid levels that improved the shifting performance. There were metallic bits on the magnetic plugs, so it was of some benefit to change it.

Just be sure to use only GL4(Redline MT-90) in the tranny. The center and rear diffs are GL5(Redline 75-90). The rear diff requires limited slip fluid, but Redline already has it in their 75-90 gear oil, so no problems there.

hmm...weird, it's almost the exact opposite for me. The higher the rpm I try to shift at the smoother the shifter feels. Usually in traffic I shift at around 3000 and I can feel all the notchiness. Under WOT and shifting at 5500+ the shifter just glides into the next gear, feels great! Individual car quirks maybe??
