blow off valve OPEN while idleling...

Hi guys,

I just noticed that my aftermarket Blow Of Valve stays open whenever my car is running(idle ling). Is this good or bad? It only shuts briefly when I give the car some gas and the RPM's drop and shoot back up like its miss firering. This is pissing me off, help?

What type of bov do you have?

If its aftermarket bov, then most likely the spring inside is too weak for the amount of vacuum your car produces.

I know the TIAL bov's have different spring combination's depending on the vacuum the motor produces.

Its not abnormal. On a TiAL if it doesnt hang a little its too stiffly sprung.

Yes guys its an aftermarket BOV that vent to the atmosphere! I saw that it was open when the car is idleling. I guess I will try to tighten the screw on it, I will let you know the results.

It shouldnt effect anything. My tial whistles softly at idle and has no ill effects.

I tried to adjust the spring on it guess what? Its not adjustable , I think I will have to fork out some cash to get me a new adjustable valve. I was doing some reading on the web and found an article that claims this makes the car overfuel and stall in some cases because the extra air being drawn in from the BOV confuses the ECU...how true is that?

1stly, are you MAF still or SD?

and 2ndly it's not a big deal...just get a new tial bov spring matched to the vac your car creates..very simple to replace.

Yeah, I'm running a MAF. So how do I go about replacing the spring on the BOV?
