Forced Performance FTW.

Also, apagan01, the oil I was using was SAE 20W-50 Synthetic Premium Protection Motor Oil. Isnt this oil supposed to last for 15,000 miles?

sorry sir i just noticed you had asked a question.

about the 20w50 you seem to be running yes you are correct, tthe TBN on that oil is designed so it can run 15K on a modified car. it has high zinc and phos content like a race oil so t helps your metal to metal contact interfaces. you can run it 5k withoutissues even on ethanol or race gas.

Damn see, I dont feel I should be held responsible at all for what happened. I didnt neglect the car at all, and was changing that oil every 1,500 miles.

No im not. Its not my fault my car burnt off 3 quarts in 900 miles. And I went to the Buschur shootout to support them and then this is what I get in return.. I mean I know it still wasn't 100% broken in but thats no excuse for 3qts to go missing unless someone actually emptied my oil in that parking lot but I highly doubt that, because my car has an extremely good alarm and if you attempt to lift it the alarm will go off.

Theres nothing I can do really.. they are not charging me labor, and just parts so atleast they are working with me but what about my $1200 in OEM parts fees not counting the engine parts, and downtime without a vehicle for a month? and 2 car garage being wasted by a torn apart Evo?

With a race motor things like this can happen, I mean it only had barely 5,000 miles on it and I know the rings were not fully seated properly. 900 miles with constant 80mph cruising definitely wasnt good for the motor it got hot and the clutch even started to slip in 5th gear.. I dont think I should have driven a full out race car 900 miles to begin with. If I would have kept doing what I was doing with it around here this would have never occurred.

Lesson learned is always check your oil every 2 gas tank fill ups atleast to make sure you have oil and never take the oil level or motor for granted.. this goes to show **** will happen , even if youre super **** about your vehicle.

Ask Batty..... I'm extremely **** when it comes to maintenance and working on my vehicle. He told me I was nuts when he was helping me assemble the car back cause I had to have everything to the right factory torque spec and kept double checking things LOL.

ya its electric. I have maxamp 3s lipo 11.1v 6500mah battery in it now it does at least 60mph on road and 50 maybe in grass.. its wicked.

I used to have a gas t-maxx and gas rustler & stampede also. The gas cant accelerate even close to what these electric ones do with high voltage lipo batteries & brushless motors. Gas is just as fun tho

im going to offically say building a car sucks sometimes and is a pain in the *** im sure once its all done it can be fun but you just proved to me tscompusa that building it twice is even more of a pain in the *** and can cause you to resent the car in general. thinking about it now i think this is going to be my first and last build waaay to much downtime and paying a note on a car i have not seen for 6 months and still have longer. not worth it. buying another evo in the mean time is even more of a waste of money because you might get a lemon or one with issues then your right back where you started.

I still can't decide, I know it's easier to drive the X but the X has sort of a boat feel.

yes it does. theres always delays no matter what. after all, we are humans and we cant pump out a finished product in 24 hrs and run a business at the same time. I dont know how long Buschur Racing is going to take on my shortblock but I have a feeling they arent gonna screw around with it.. so I should have it back soon. The motor was dropped off at the machine shop the same day I delivered it so they are definitely not screwing around! If I didnt have faith in Buschur Racing I would not have even bothered to give them the motor to fix it.. Hopefully I can get it back soon and get the car back together and it is somewhat reliable if thats even possible with anything with a mitsubishi sign on it.

btw I did find the page I used to break the motor in last time & im gonna do it the same way I did it last time: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

I think I found the culprit! I took a peak in my intake manifold today and found tons of oil in it.. I think the stock crankcase pressure setup is not efficient enough for my setup. I think what was happening was the pcv valve was blowing excessive oil into the intake manifold and burning it off. The thing is, this still shouldnt happen this much should it? this would indicate the rings not sealing right?
so the root cause of my problem = excessive blowby .. and very well could be because they never sealed from the get go due to me breaking the motor in pig rich.
