So did you turn down your B.S's? I hope that doesn't mess with their integrity...Ive had DSMs with BS removed and it really is only noticable the first few days and after that ain't an issue...I sure would hate to see your BS break and wreck your motor cause you didn't want that slight amount of vibration...weakened BS eventually snapping a t-belt (skipping teeth) sure makes more than a little vibration...

Tune yours a little rich until you can get it on a dyno for a vet tuner...

im pretty sure if its done properly it wouldnt effect the integrity. sure if u chucked it on ur grinder at home and ground the crap outta it till it was red hot they would be buggered. i cant say iv ever heard of a evo balance shaft breaking after being machined down. never really thought about it i guess. i believe it needs to be done on a lathe on a slow speed.

i ran the engine in by driving it nicely for 1000km or so. the ecu kinda learnt itself. it will search like hell for the first few days and then begin 2 settle down.
then i went and got it tuned properly and it runs mint

My thread is not stickied - but it's here https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...3076build.html

I removed one balance shaft and turned down the other - seems to be doing great. Watch the oil squirters on the piston skirts. I'd rev to 7800 RPM, but the little TME will be out of breath at that point anyway.

Sure the turbo is going to be fine at 20 psi, and do OK on the 2.3L. BUT, you are not going to make any impressive numbers on pump gas at that boost level. At 20 psi you'll be lucky to break 360 whp, but will have a nice torque curve.

For auto-x it will be nice if the courses are small and you don't rev the car out. But I think you'll find that if you start making a bunch of complete pulls you are going to be looking for a turbo that can flow the air at a real boost level.

Loving the pictures of the machine work. I used a shop with a torque plate as well, it's a must yo!

Go find yourself some E85, get 1450 cc FIC Bluemax injectors and a bigger turbo and give it some boost!

Turning the BS down is essentially the same thing as putting a stub shaft- except its free and "theoretically" makes the oil pump gears more stable

Heres where I got the idea: http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/A...nator-Kit.html

Yeah I don't see why it wouldn't re-learn itself to a basic tune. The ECU only sees how much air goes in, and what the mixture is after it comes out. Besides that all it should need to do to be "driveable" is correct its fuel trim.

After the build is done I would love to have it tunes by AMS or STM (STM is like 20mins from my school, so I'mm most likely have them do it)

I wasn't considering E85 until I learned that you can easily switch between a gas and ethanol tune on the ECU... Now I'm kinda considering it. E85 is only available at a few gas stations that are close to me, so IDK how much of an advantage it would be to me...

A bigger turbo may be in the works, I just really want to see what this TME can do after I went though the trouble of rebuilding and porting it!

Hey guys, havn't updated the thread in a LONG time, but I've been slowly making progress! Blueprinted everything myself, sent out my rotating assembly and got it balanced- the next day I called JE to double check my end gaps for ~30psi of boost and was told I needed upgraded wrist pins . I called the guy who balances my engines and he said that as long as all the piston pins weigh the same, it wont throw off the balance- I got lucky on that one

Also picked up a brand new Exedy Twin for around $1100, and got my GSC S2's in the mail .

I think I'm going to send my manifolds and head out to MAPerformance for their stage 4 porting as a late christmas present

Now my next hurdle is trying to find and Evo 4 waterpump in america....

Heavy duty wrist pins

Freshly decked block (the deck was .004" slanted from the factory from cyl 1 to 4!!! )

God damn those JE circlips are a ***** to put in!

Exedy Twin

There should be more updates tomorrow night, I hope to get everything assembled to a shortblock before I go back to school!
